4-ply worsted weight
acrylic yarn
- Forest Green (17½ oz, 500g):
Color A
- Olive (17½ oz, 500g):
Color B
- Leaf (21 oz, 600g):
Color C

YOU WILL NEED:
Flexible afghan hook,
size H-8 (5mm) or size to
obtain gauge
 Crochet hook, size H-8 (5mm)
or size to obtain gauge
 Tapestry needle
STITCH GUIDE:
Chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st),
single crochet (sc)
Afghan Ripple Stitch:
Note: This stitch is completed in
two halves (referred to as one row
in instructions). In the first half,
leave all lps on hook; in the return
row, work lps off. Do not turn work
throughout. Use an afghan hook.
Foundation Ch: Make a ch of
instructed length.
First Half of Foundation Row:
Keeping all lps on hook, draw up
a lp in 2nd ch from hook and in
each ch across. (see Fig. 1A)

GAUGE:
Over afghan ripple pat,
one ripple = 2¾" (7cm)
Exact gauge is essential for
your project to be proper size.
As you begin your project, make a
sample swatch per the instructions
counting your stitches and rows
carefully. If your swatch is larger
or smaller than specified, change
the hook size and make another
swatch to get the correct gauge.
Keep trying until you find the
hook size that will give you the
specified gauge.

Return Row: Yo, draw through
3 lps (dec made), * yo, draw through
2 lps (7 times), ch 4, (yo, draw
through 2 lps) 7 times, yo, draw
through 5 lps (dec made)—one
ripple made; rep from * across row,
ending yo, draw through 4 lps
(dec made), ch 1. (see Fig. 1B)

First Half of Row 1: Keeping all lps
on hook, * sk dec, draw up lp in
each of next 7 lps, draw up lp in
each ch of ch-4, draw up lp in each
of next 7 lps; rep from * across row,
end draw up lp over last dec.
Return Row: Rep Return Row.
Rep Row 1 and Return Row for pat.
To finish, sl st in each bar across.
changing to Color A in last st of
last row.
 Rows 9-11: With Color A, work
both halves of Row 1 three times,
changing to Color B in last st of
last row.
Rep Rows 3-11 eleven times. Do not
change to Color B at end of last row.
Do not fasten off.
DIRECTIONS:
Note: When changing colors, work
Return Row through last dec, drop
old color, yo with new color and
complete ch-1. Do not carry color
not in use.
With size H crochet hook and Color
A, ch 326.
Foundation Row: With size H
flexible afghan hook and Color A,
work both halves of Foundation
Row.
 Rows 1-2: Work both halves
of Row 1 twice, changing to Color B
in last st of last row.
 Rows 3-5: With Color B, work
both halves of Row 1 three times,
changing to Color C in last st of
last row.
 Rows 6-8: With Color C, work
both halves of Row 1 three times,
EDGING:
 Rnd 1: With Color A and
crochet hook, working across top,
ch 1, * sk dec, sc in next 7 lps, 5 sc
in ch-4 sp, sc in next 7 lps; rep from
* across row, end 2 sc in top of first
dec, sc down side of afghan.
Working across bottom, 2 sc in next
dec, ** 8 sc to base of ripple, sk base
of ripple, 8 sc to top of ripple, 3 sc at
top of ripple; rep from ** across,
end 2 sc in top of last dec, Sc down
second side of afghan, end 2 sc in
dec, join with sl st to first sc.
 Rnd 2: Sc around, working
3 sc at top of each ripple and in each
corner st, and sk 2 sc at the
bottom of each ripple. Fasten off.
