Glossary of Dinosaurs
Picture
Common Name
Description
Ankylosaurus
means "crooked"and was a large
herbivorous armored dinosaur
with a clubbed tail
Apatosaurus
means "deceptive reptile" and
had a long neck and tail with a
abnormally small head
Icthyosaurus
means "fish lizard" and had a
porpoise-like body with dorsal and
tail fins and paddle-like limbs
Pteradactyl
means "winged finger" and was a
flying reptile with a highly
reduced tail and teeth with a
bird-like beak.
Mammoth
a large mammal that was
believed to have hairy skin and
long curved teeth
Sabre Tooth Tiger
similar to our cats of modern
day, but believed to have
exceptionally long upper canine
teeth
Glossary of Dinosaurs

Common Name
Description
Stegosaurus
means "roof lizard" and had
plates along its heavily rounded
back and on the tail.
Tyrannosaurous Rex
means "tyrant lizard king" and
believed to have walked on two
legs and had abnormally short
arms
Triceratops
means "three horn face" and
had a bony crest on the neck,
long horn over each eye and a
shorter horn on the nose
Velociraptor
Means "swift siezer" or "robber"
and believed to be a fast
dinosaur with long claws for
grasping and tearing prey
NOTE: Descriptions here are based on popular knowledge of
what scientists believe to be true. As a literal 7-day Creation
believing Christian, I do not believe dinosaurs lived millions of
years ago. That being said, I do believe dinosaurs lived on this
earth. Our favorite Bible-based dinosaur material is from
Answers in Genesis by Ken Ham.
