C. Clyde Run - College of Business Administration
about the race In September 2012, Kansas State University’s College of Business recognized its 50th anniversary by hosting the inaugural C. Clyde Run/Fun Run and Walk. It was named after the college’s first dean, C. Clyde Jones, a tireless community volunteer. Business students organize this community event with assistance from the Young Business Alumni Group. All event proceeds benefit Shepherd’s Crossing, the nonprofit Jones helped get off the ground. Each year, the event raises more than $20,000. Midge’s Mile This year, Midge’s Mile takes on added significance. Clyde’s beloved wife, Midge, passed away on May 1, just six weeks short of 68 years of marriage. Her birthday falls on Nov. 2, creating an opportunity to celebrate her life with this special event. Families are encouraged to honor Midge by joining their children in a Halloween costume walk, with prizes for the most creative children’s costumes. giving back thanks to our 2015 sponsors! In 2001, a group of local ministers started what would become Shepherd’s Crossing, an ecumenical nonprofit organization that provides compassionate assistance to those in need of a listening ear and financial support. Shepherd’s Crossing offers budget counseling, referrals and financial support for rent, utility and prescription medications to low-income families with financial emergencies. People from all walks of life are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation. Volunteers contribute more than 2,700 hours annually, much of which is devoted to client counseling. First United Methodist Church provides rent-free facilities. In 2015, Shepherd’s Crossing distributed $245,000 to support almost 2,400 deserving individuals. To date, it has served more than 4,500 households and distributed more than $1.5 million. Each year 30-plus churches, dozens of civic groups, and hundreds of businesses and individuals support this ministry. 5th C.
