IFSA-Butler Scholarship Application
IFSA-Butler Scholarship Application Instructions IFSA-Butler Scholarships The Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler) offers $1,500 scholarships for semester programs, $2,500 scholarships for year programs and $500 for summer programs. These scholarships are based on financial need. Any student studying abroad on an IFSA-Butler program may apply for a scholarship, the amount of which is applied toward the recipient’s IFSA-Butler program fee. There is no need to designate which scholarship you wish to receive; our scholarship committee reviews all applications and allots scholarships based on a student’s financial need, program of study and other qualifications. Program fees and personal costs vary considerably from university to university and from city to city. Large cities such as London, Dublin, Buenos Aires and Sydney have a high cost of living, and students concerned about finances should be aware that choosing a smaller city might offer considerable savings. Designated Scholarships Students applying for certain programs who meet the host university’s scholarship criteria will be automatically considered for designated scholarships. • Massey University: Study Awards of NZ$1,000 are available for semester or year study • University of Bristol: up to $2,000 per semester for applicants who pay in-state tuition at state universities only • University of Canterbury: Awards of NZ$2,500 to NZ$5,000 are available. The university also gives “general awards” to select students upon arrival. • University of Glasgow: $1,500 for semester or year study (students who pay in-state tuition at state universities only) Memorial Scholarships In addition to our regular scholarships, IFSA-Butler offers memorial scholarships in the amount of $3,500, unless stated otherwise. IFSA-Butler memorial scholarships require a personal essay and are awarded on an annual basis for either semester or full-year study. • • • • • • Colleen Dodd Memorial Scholarship in Ireland Anthony Lobdell Memorial Scholarship in Latin America Noah Burris Memorial Scholarship in Australia David Farrington Memorial Scholarship in Australia Nancy Cushing-Daniels Memorial Scholarship in Latin America and Spain, in the amount of $5,000 Marcus Ames-Lewis Scholarship at Birkbeck, University of London, in the amount of $2,000 Reporting and Crediting Scholarships If you are awarded a scholarship, the award amount will be credited toward the student portion of your bill after you have registered for classes abroad.
