Church Web Resources
Church Web Resources You don’t need to be a geek to use them Do you ever have questions like this? What is Brother Smith’s phone number? What time does that YW activity start next Saturday? Who is the Elder’s Quorum President in Ukiah First Ward? My daughter is moving. What ward will she be in and what is the name and phone number of her new Bishop? Where do you get answers to these questions? Most people call their Bishop or Ward Executive Secretary. Maybe in your stake directory. By the end of this evening, you’ll know that those questions can all be answered using the Church’s web resources. Your wife, mom or girlfriend will be so impressed with you. What I’m going to show you Directory Calendar Lesson Schedules Meetinghouse Locator Employment Resource Services Gospel Library LDS Account As the Church built web sites, each one had a separate username/password function. Unless you used the same one each time, it was possible to have different accounts each Church site. They’re now unifying all Church web resources using the “LDS Account” for everything. Most Church resources now require the LDS Account. Create an LDS Account Directly with http://ldsaccount.lds.org From the sign-in page. Requirements have changed. Still requires your membership number. Now requires birth date instead of confirmation date. Non-members can create LDS Account, but won’t have the same access. Register More Profile Information Email Confirmation You need a valid email address. After registering, you’ll receive a confirmation email. You need to click on the link in the email to confirm the email address is valid. LDS.org Tools Menu Many of the new resources that are available are under the “Tools” menu. What tools are available depends on your calling The site presents you with different options depending on your callings. That information comes directly from Member and Leader Services (MLS). It is now even more important than ever that the calling information in MLS be up to date, otherwise people may not have the access they need to do their calling. For example, Ward Employment Specialists won’t have access to the right portions of the Church’s new employment web site unless their Ward Clerk has correctly assigned them to that calling. Calendar Here are a couple weeks Separate Calendars for each organization Ward and Stake organization each have their own calendars. You can select which ones will display on your calendar page.
