NCPL The Library Gl be Noble County Public Library January 2010 Closings: Friday, January 1 Saturday, January 2 Directors Notes Noble County Public Library www.nobleco.lib.in.us Central Library 813 East Main Street Albion, IN 46701 Phone (260) 636-7197 or 1-800-811-6861 Fax (260)636-3321 Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 8:30pm Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm Saturday 8:30am - 3:30pm East Library 104 Ley Street Avilla, IN 46710 Phone & Fax (260) 897-3900 Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm Tuesday, Thursday 9:00am - 7:30pm Saturday 9:00am - 2:00pm Weather and Snow: It is that time of year when snow and ice can be beautiful, but can also make getting around very difficult. I thought I would take this opportunity to remind our patrons of how we try to keep all of you (and our staff) safe. Parking lot: We contract with someone locally to clear our parking lot. Though this is done before we open, on some days where it is still snowing the lot may not remain clear throughout the day so please drive with caution and be very careful when parking next to another car as it may be icy. Sidewalks: We make every effort to clear and salt sidewalks before 8:30 when we open and try to keep them clear throughout the day. With continual snow & ice, we can’t guarantee that the sidewalks will always be safe, so please use extreme caution and let the staff know if there is an issue (being inside all day, we sometimes aren’t made aware of problems). Closings: Periodically the weather becomes bad enough that we need to close so that we do our part in keeping people off the roads. If a snow emergency is called within the county, the library will always close. The library may close at other times if I feel it is in the best interest of safety for both patrons and staff. If we do close, I will make every effort to provide closing through the following media: Internet: www.weatherclosings.com (location: Albion, org type: other) Radio: WMEE (97.3 FM), WOWO (1190 AM), WBCL (90.3 FM) Television: Channel 21 & Channel 15 Have a happy and safe winter season! She has a pair for every occasion. That is until she attends the Royal Academy for Perfect Princess. The other royals make fun of the Princess’ “Peepers.” She packs all of her glasses away so that she can be like “everyone else” and this causes a series of hilarious optical mistakes. She mistakes a visiting Prince, Prince Peerless, for a horse. Princess Peepers and Prince Peerless quickly “see” that they are made for each other. Happy endings are in store for this optically challenged Princess. This is a delightful book emphasizing peer pressure, high expectations, and self acceptance. ~Staff pick and review by Ruth Guthrie, NCPL East Children’s Librarian~ Adult Stampin’ Up Club NCPL West Monday, January 11 $5.00 materials fee 6:30pm NCPL Central Monday, January 18 $6.00 materials fee 6:30pm Want to show someone how much you love them this Valentine’s Day? Spilsbury used the product to aid in teaching geography. After catching on with the wider public, this remained the primary use of jigsaw puzzles until about 1820.” ~Wikipedia.com~ NCPL NCPL Teen Newsletter– January 2010 NCPL East For Teens Grades 5 & 6.
