Welcome ...
Cattlemen,
With last winter being one of the worst, one we
would all like to forget, we are all getting spoiled with
the weather this year. Cattle prices are at all-time
highs, and it is very exciting time to be in this business. This years set of bulls are the first set that I
have done the breeding on after buying the herd from
Dick Harding, Bar R Red Angus, in 2009. I am a firm
believer in quality over quantity which is why every
cow that can be AIed, is. These bulls are out of some
of the best sires out there and I believe it shows.
Utilizing top genetics through AI is also showing
dividends on the maternal side which, as we all know,
is the backbone of what we do.
With a rough spring for many of us, these bulls
have come a long way on good grass and mama’s
milk as these bulls are not creep fed. The bulls were
weaned on Sept. 24 and have been on a corn, dry distillers, silage and alfalfa ration ever since. These bulls
are brought along slowly to help promote longevity
in feet, legs and health. Conservative feeding also
allows the bulls to show there genetic potential as the
best bulls are putting on more pounds without excess
feed.
This year I am doing things a little different and
welcome feedback as to how you all like it. I am
having a private treaty day sale. Prices will be set on
each bull, as they have been in the past, however if
more than one party is interested in a bull, bidding
will take place between the two parties. The highest
bidder gets the bull. This is the fairest way I know to
allow everyone a fair chance at each bull. If no one
else is interested in that bull you can buy the bull for
the price that is set. Any bull not sold on Feb. 3 will
be sold afterwards on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are unable to attend February 3 feel free
to come out anytime and look at the bulls and I can
get you on the phone sale day. We also are providing
a complimentary lunch that day so please come and
enjoy a meal with us. Everyone is welcome! I would

Terms & Conditions
•
All the bulls start out at a set price. If two or more parties are
interested in the same bull, a bidding will take place and the
party with the highest bid takes the bull home. I am doing
this so everyone has a fair chance at every bull. This only
holds true to people who come on Feb. 3rd. Otherwise, it is a
first-come, first-served basis.
•
Viewing starts at 11 a.m. Bidding will take place at 1 p.m.
for people interested in the same bull.
•
For people not able to attend the sale, the bulls may be
viewed all week leading up to Feb. 3.
•
All bulls sold in February will be fed and delivered for free.
Bulls sold in March and beyond will have a $100 feed and
delivery charge.
•
All bulls will be receive a breeding soundness exam in the
middle of April and delivered shortly after. All bulls are guaranteed to breed for one year.
•
When the bull is sold, the buyer may leave the bull at the
ranch until delivery at the buyer’s risk. We will take care of
the bull to the best of our ability, but the bull is the buyer’s
responsibility.
•
Twedt Red Angus assumes no liability for accidents or injuries that occur on the sale premises.

This calf is out of BAR R IRON MAN 806. Iron Man was purchased at BAR R’s last bull sale
by my dad Gerald Twedt. After seeing his calves on the ground out of commercial cows, I had
to try him on my registered cows. I was not disappointed. His bulls are great and his heifers

CED ..... Calving Ease Direct – predicts the probability
of calves being born unassisted out of 2-year-old
heifers.
BW...... Birth Weight – predicts the difference, in
pounds, for birth weight, and is also used in the
calculation of Red Angus’ Calving Ease Direct
(CED) EPD.
WW ..... Weaning Weight – predicts the difference, in
pounds, for weaning weight (adjusted to age of
dam and a standard 205 days of age).
YW...... Yearling Weight – predicts the expected difference, in pounds, for yearling weight (adjusted to a
standard 365 days of age).
Milk .... Milk – predicts the difference in maternal
production of an individual animal’s daughters as
expressed by the weaning weight of their calves.
TM ...... Total Maternal – predicts the rancher’s actual
observation of weaning weights of calves raised
by an animal’s daughters. TM EPD = Milk EPD +
1/2 (WW EPD)
ME ...... Maintenance Energy – predicts a bull’s daughters that will require less feed to maintain her
body weight and condition; thus increasing profitability.
HPG..... Heifer Pregnancy – predicts the probability of
heifers conceiving to calve at two years of age.
CEM .... Calving Ease Maternal – predicts the probability
of a given animal’s daughters calving unassisted
at two years of age.
STAY ... Stayability – predicts the probability that a bull’s
daughters will remain in the herd until at least six
years of age.
MARB .. Marbling Score – predicts differences for
carcass marbling score as expressed in marbling
score units. Higher marbling scores are positively
correlated with higher carcass quality grades.
YG ...... Yield Grade – predicts differences in USDA
Yield Grade score, and is expressed in USDA Yield
Grade units.
CW...... Carcasss Weight – predicts differences in hot
carcass weight and is expressed in pounds.
REA ..... Rib Eye Area – predicts differences of carcass
Rib Eye Area between the 12th and 13th rib,
expressed in inches.
FAT ..... 12th Rib Fat Thickness – predicts differences for
carcass fat depth over the 12th rib, as expressed
in inches.
