The team, Rosemont, won the championship that year.
8th grade students were treated to a great night featuring a country western theme!
Each team selected their name from a Catholic college name. Teams were
formed from girls in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Games were played at
lunchtime in the gymnasium. She remembers there were 5 or 6 teams. The boys
had the same and they played on alternate days during the season. The winning
team players from both girls and boys received varsity school sweaters
emblazoned with the year of the championship.

The Conor O’Kane Foundation was established in 2011 to honor St. Rose of Lima
alum, Conor Henry O’Kane. Conor was a 2005 graduate of St. Rose of Lima School
who passed away suddenly on January 15, 2011. Conor was a young man of 19 who
was taken from us suddenly and much too early, but who lived a life rich in Faith, Family
and Friends. Conor attended Catholic school his entire life, attended mass regularly,
and received the Sacraments regularly. Conor enjoyed spending time with his
immediate family, mom and dad, brother Nevin and sister Darby; as well as his large
and extended family (over 20 aunts and uncles and 44 first and second cousins). His
friends and family createdThe Conor O’Kane Foundation to provide tuition assistance
to families in need so their children can continue to benefit from a Catholic school
education. Events are held throughout the year, including the Conor O’Kane Memorial
Ice Hockey Tournament on Thanksgiving Weekend and a Beef and Beer in the Spring,
to benefit the fund. This past year, Saint Rose of Lima School received over $16,000
from The Conor O’Kane Foundation for tuition assistance. We would like to thank all
of the generous donors that gave to the Conor O’Kane Foundation this year.
