Sparkler Series of Cannas

On hot summer evenings, when the fireflies are flying as well as on
Independence Day, children wave bright, hissing handheld sparklers to
celebrate the long days of summer and the freedom and happiness of
families gathering, or an occasional neighborhood block party. We are so
excited about our new line of cannas from tropical plant lover and breeder,
Brian Williams, because the flowers are like no other group of cannas we’ve
seen and they are reliably hardy to USDA hardiness Zone 7. Canna blooms
are often tight and stiff and when they are in full bloom, there’s lots of
browning making it difficult to see the fully open flower for each floret
opens at its own pace and crowds next one. With the Sparkler series, the
blooms are light and airy, with a dainty, firework- like feel. When in full
bloom, they stay colorful and clean until the next bloom stalk is ready to
shine. These upright beauties make great fillers and thrillers for beds,
borders and containers.

Canna ‘Peach Sparkler’ PPAF
Size: 5’ tall by 4’ wide
Resembling a stalk of freshly sliced peaches, Peach Sparkler will add soft, yet
saturated color to any summer planting. Large, thick grass green leaves make
the perfect foil for the brightly colored, open and airy blooms. Reaching to only
5’ tall, this new exciting selection with its all summer, self-cleaning color will
enrich your containers and borders, giving you a fresh and fruity feel to your
summer palette.

If you like Canna ‘Intrigue’ you’ll love our new Blueberry Sparkler. It’s a real designer’s
canna with purple leaves and blue-grey undersides, making the perfect foil for
the sturdy, medium pink flowers. This new selection is tall, slender, and full of
grace unlike some of the other bolder foliaged cannas. Blueberry Sparkler adds
deep, colorful foliage and a truly tropical feel to mixed containers and perennial
borders. The self-cleaning, all summer blooms are an added bonus to the boldly
colored foliage.

Dark green leaves are the perfect backdrop for blood orange buds that unfurl
to reveal open, robust tangerine-orange blooms. Deeply saturated flowers are
reminiscent of a summer salad of ripe papaya and juicy watermelon, blooming
all summer and self-cleaning along the way. The bold, tropical foliage is perfect
in containers or in the middle of the border where the blooms can rise like
summer fireworks above perennials, adding colorful accents that draw the eye
up to the back of the border.
