Antoine convinces Clément to go back with him to look for Alice, and to let Antoine film his journey. Their pact soon becomes untenable as they find themselves thrown into chaos. In a small village, a young couple is about to get married. Guests arrive, the banquet is ready and everything is prepared for the ceremony. Unexpectedly, the Russian army shows up. They finally decide to celebrate anyway against all expectations and to make it silent… This is a modern-day tale of a young woman who sets out by train across the former Eastern Bloc towards Moscow. It is a city that haunts her and without it, she would never have left her country, back when there were still tanks and when freedom was elsewhere – in the West. In the early 1980s, Marta left Prague for Paris. It was the age of the Palace nightclub and drugs, a time when it was OK to do a little stripping or a few favours, for cash to make ends meet. In the new East, everybody talks about people leaving, especially the girls. But Marta isn’t here anymore. Those who left before have no place in this new East. Fed up with the coldness of Iceland, she decides to sell her business to be able to move out of the country. Her business, selling dope, is prosperous, she wants a good price out of it... the dealer whom she’ll hand it over to (as well as her mobile : that’s how her customers reach her and order the amount they need) tells her he’ll have the money within 48 hours. Meanwhile, Anna gets involved in all kinds of «Icelandic familial adventures» and her kitchen fills up with customers/friends, partying, while waiting for her to come back to sell them their daily grass. A story of a disoriented and vulnerable woman, overburdened with life’s daily problems and more: her belongings are impounded, her cosmetics shop has been closed down and her children’s future is unknown. The children’s vitality draws a sharp contrast against the apathy shown by their mother, who plunges slowly into a depression. The kids, becoming aware that she lacks the necessary strength and maturity to effectively face these problems, are forced to adopt adult attitudes. Life goes on, and things change. Sometimes changes are slow and unnoticeable, sometimes they are sharp and tangible, and everything is transformed, always.
