The Kick-Off Party will be located at Bonefish Mac’s Sports Grille located on the SE corner of Sample Road & Federal Highway in Lighthouse Point on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 6:00pm – 10:00pm. 2. Early entrance fee is $350 - valid thru November 11, 2009. 3. All late entry fees after November 11, 2009 are $400. 4. Late tournament registration will be available at the Kick-Off party on Nov. 12, or you may register early at the following locations: • Custom Rod & Reel, Lighthouse Point • RJ Boyle Studios, Deerfield Beach • Ray’s Offshore Tackle, Boca Raton • call Drew Kettelhut at 954-588-0508 for alternate entry methods 5. At least one member of each vessel’s tournament crew must be present at the Kick-Off Party to sign in. If this is not possible, contact 954-588-0805 before Nov. 12 to make other arrangements. 6. The tournament rankings will be determined by the heaviest combined weight of up to two swordfish per vessel. 7. An additional “Pelagic Fish” division will also be available. Winners will be determined by the heaviest combined weight of up to three fish from an aggregate Dolphin/Wahoo/Tuna catch. (Bonito & Skipjack tunas excluded.) Pelagic Fish do not need to be called-in. 8. Official tournament channel is VHF 72. 9. This is a “Rod and Reel” tournament. Manual and electric reels are permitted, but must be mounted on a conventional fishing rod. The new “wishbone” style rod from Lindgren-Pitman is permitted. Bandit, boom, winch, hydraulic or other fishing devices considered by the Committee to be in violation of the spirit of the tournament are prohibited and may not be present on any vessel. 10. It is the responsibility of all participants to abide by state and federal fishing and permit regulations. 11. Boats may leave from their home port, but must “check-out” via VHF 72 or by phone 954-588-0508 no earlier than 8:00am. 12. Boats may start fishing for tournament fish at 8:00am. 13. In order for a swordfish to be eligible for any category in the tournament, the length must be a minimum of 50” from the fork of the tail to the tip of the lower jaw. 14. Once a swordfish is boated, you must notify the committee boat (VHF 72) of its LJFL length. In order for your fish to count in this tournament, confirmation from the committee boat must be received. 15. In an effort to document the swordfish released during this tournament accurately, please notify the committee boat of all released fish. 16. Boats must stop fishing for tournament fish at 4:00pm. 17. You may only transport your fish to the weigh station in the boat it/they were caught on, by water. No trailering over land. 18. The weigh station will be located at the Alsdorf Park (14th Street) boat ramp, 1 mile south of Hillsboro Inlet. See map —> 19. The weigh station will be open from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. If you are still hooked up to a fish at 4:00pm, you must notify the committee boat. In order for that fish to count, you must arrive at the weigh-station by 6:00pm. No Exceptions! 20. In the event of a tie, the earliest time of the last tournament-eligible boated swordfish on a vessel will be the tie breaker time. The committee boat will document the official time of all boated fish. 21. All participants who enter and fish in this tournament do so at their own risk. In the event of unsafe weather conditions (Small Craft Advisory or Hurricane/Tropical Storm warning), the tournament will be rescheduled for the following Saturday, until the event may commence in safe weather conditions. Entry fees will not be refunded. 22. Flagrant rule violations, as deemed by the Committee, will result in disqualification from the Tournament. There will be no refunds as a result of disqualification. 23. Any protests must me made by no later than 6:00pm, on the day of the tournament. All protests must be in writing along with $200 cash. 24. All Swordfish Tournament prizes will be paid-out. In the event that less than the 1st-5th payout positions are filled, the payouts will be recalculated in decreasing amounts according to the number of vessels due a prize. If only one vessel weighs an eligible swordfish, that vessel will receive all tournament prize monies. In the event that no swordfish are caught, the tournament will be re-run the following Saturday, until a winner is determined. Entry fees will not be refunded. 25. The “Pelagic Fish” division payouts will be 50/30/20 to the top three positions; 60/40 if only two positions are filled; or winner-take-all if only one payout position is filled. Ties will be split equally. If no dolphin, wahoo, or tuna are weighed in the Pelagic Fish division, that prize money will be added to the total tournament prize money, and dispersed according to the swordfish division payouts. 26. Cash awards will be paid by check and mailed within 5 days following the event, contingent on passing a mandatory polygraph test. If you win a cash prize, you must provide tournament officials with a payee name, address, and SSN/EIN. A 1099-MISC will be issued for all tournament prize payouts to the person or company to whom the check is made payable. ALL WINNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE A POLYGRAPH TEST The Weigh-In Station will be located at the Alsdorf Park (14th Street) boat ramp.
