Custom Reports in WindMil Brian Lassiter Why custom reports? Benefits • • • • Smaller data sets Custom format Specific data fields Calculations on data Required Setup • Model Query – Same as used in global editor • Custom Report – Defines layout and calculations of dataset provided by the query Model Queries • Select Elements • Select Data fields • Order of fields determines the layout of Selected Element Grid Model Queries Sorting • Places records in order based on field selected • Can sort by multiple fields • Needed when “Grouping” on the report Selected Element Window • Exports to excel or text file – .xls has a number of records limit • Interacts with the model Common Fields • • • • • • • • Upline Source Upline Feeder Impedance Length Miles from Source OH Conductor Voltage Thru Amps Thru kW • • • • Thru Consumers Capacity Percentage Max Possible Fault Accumulated Impedance eLua Fields • Ability to add new fields to the field list – Perform calculations – Search upline or downline • Appear in list like any other field • Stored in C:\Milsoft\WindMil\Programs\Scripts\elua Useful eLua Fields • • • • Downline Losses Upline Devices Total Billing kWh Thru kW loss Script Manager Creation of Query • Give each query a unique name • Drag desired fields to right • Add any rules to select certain elements automatically – No rules = all elements on report • Drag any fields over for sorting – Double click field to change sort order Creation of Query • Verify query in Selected Elements window before creating report – Data fields – Sort order – Elements selected Custom Report • Report creates a layout of the data provided by the query • Can perform calculations on data • Only output is printed(.pdf or paper) Creation of Report • • • • • Give the report the same name as the query Choose report style Add data from the query to the report Add bands Setup fonts New Report New Report Report Types • List Style – matches format of most WindMil default reports – Each element is a row on report • Form Style – each record is it’s own page – Use for reports where a lot of data is needed for each element Report Type Selection Field Selection Report Bands • Band – horizontal break on the report • Bands are required and determine what data shows up where on the report Report Bands Band Types • • • • Page Header – top of each page Title – Top of first Page Detail – Printed for each element Group – Splits elements into groups based on criteria • Summary – Bottom of last page • Page Footer – Bottom of each page General Options • Note Columns on each page is number of times to repeat all columns • Use Landscape for more than 6 data fields Cosmetics Report Editor Bands Page Header Title Column Header Detail Adding Bands • Click button and click on bottom area of report to add a band Generic Band • Set band type after adding to report Group Header Band • Creates groups of records • Band printed at beginning of group • Useful for calculations based on common attribute Group Header Setup • Group by Field or Expression • Use “+” to group by multiple fields Expressions • Insert expression into band to sum, count, average, etc • Very similar to Excel • Example - SUM(ModelQueryTable.Thru Kw) • Can be copied and pasted, just change field name (Thru Kw) Tips and Tricks • Show summary only data by shrinking detail band – Right Click band, choose options, set Height to 0 • Field Alignment – Shift click multiple fields, use green buttons to align fields Resizing • Use grab points to resize fields and bands Print Preview • Displays data from model on report • Executes all expressions • Allows report to be printed – Can print to PDF with a PDF printer driver installed • No text file output Managing Queries and Reports • Can be copied to other computers – Query – C:\Milsoft\WindMil\Programs\Queries – Report - C:\Milsoft\WindMil\Programs\Custom Reports Questions\Comments Thank You!
