BARU CONSTRUCTORA EMMA CASE STUDY: BARU ROADWAY Constructora Emma partners with Consorcio Isla Barú, the road concession that built and currently operates the Barú roadway. This route will allow the touristic development of this 6,000 ha island (60 km2) and allow the transfer of freight to the ports of Barú and Santa Ana, currently under construction. THE ISLA BARU ROAD CONCESSION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF THE 35 KM BARU HIGHWAY. The pavement’s structure consists of an embankment of varying thickness, a 40 cm subbase, 26 cm granular base and 9 cm wearing course. SPECIAL WORKS • Construction of coastal protection in the Playetas sector. • Relocation of the power lines and the drinking water and natural gas networks. • Construction of storm drainage systems and gutters.
