6th January
The Center reopened
opened after three weeks holiday during which the children and the staff were
at home. Dala Kiye
iye admitted five new girls to Bethlehem family house in the community. The
girlss were Beatrice Awino, Elizabeth Adhiambo, Aphline Akumu, and Prudence Lewinsky all
from Our Lady of Orore and Sarah Achola from Lwanda Magwar.
On the same day a group of Italian visitors came to greet the children and took photos with
them. They also visited the girls in Bethlehem family house. The other visitors were Iris
Gherbesii from Sondrio, Italy, Daniele Corbetta and Lara Businaro from Treviso Italy and
Valentina Brunori from Viterbo, Italy. The visitors arrived in Karungu during the month of
December when the Children were at home. They came to Karungu to spend part of their
holiday.
6 Gennaio
Il Centro riapre dopo 3 settimane di vacanza in cui bambini e staff sono andati a casa. Il Dala
Kiye ha accolto cinque nuove ragazze presso la casa famiglia Bethlehem: Beatrice Awino,

Elizabeth Adhiambo,, Aphline Akumu, Prudence Lewinsky provenienti dalla scuola Our Lady of
Orore e Sarah Achola da Lwanda Magwar.
Lo stesso giorno un gruppo di amici italiani, arrivati a Karungu in Dicembre per un periodo di
vacanza,, sono venuti a salutare I bambini e a scattare alcune foto con loro; hanno visitato
anche le ragazze della casa famiglia di Bethlehem. Si tratta di Iris Gherbesi da Sondrio,
Daniele Corbetta e Lara Businaro da Treviso e Valentina Brunori da Viterbo.
7th January
A team of American visitors from Washington DC paid a visit to the Center. The head of the
delegation was Fr. Joe of Earth and Spirit Center. The delegation comprised of several lay
Passionists and was on a tour mission in Africa. Their visit focused on religious houses and
orphanages. The staff at the Center gave the visitors a brief on the Interventions being rolled
out to the children. The visitors were very pleased with the work of Dala Kiye. After the brief,
the visitors were guided in a tour of the facility where they went to the foster houses and the
dining hall.
7 Gennaio
Un gruppo di americani di Washington DC è venuto a visitare il Centro. Responsabile della
delegazione è Fr. Joe dell’associazione Earth and Spirit Center. Il gruppo, formato da laici
Passionisti era in Africa per un tour missionario. La loro visita era focalizzata alle case
religiose e agli orfanotrofi. Lo staff del centro ha spiegato al gruppo gli interventi a favore dei
bambini, facendo visitare loro le strutture e le case che ospitano i piccoli, riscuotendo molto
apprezzamento.
8th January
A group of Italian visitors arrived in Karungu and were happily received at the Center by
excited children and staff. The visitors comprised of Paola Sartori who is a dermatologist,
Chiara Gomiero, Emanuela Schiavon and Monica Agostini all who are nurses from Treviso,
Italy. Others were Simona Leonardi a nurse from Roma, Giuliano Bacheca who is a doctor
specialising in Radiology and his wife Gabriella both from Viterbo, Italy and Ornella Volpato
from Monza, who will be based at the administration department at the hospital. The visitors
interacted with the children and took a walk within the Center.
8 Gennaio
Un gruppo di amici italiani è arrivato a Karungu, subito ricevuto dallo staff e dai bambini
eccitati e festosi. Si tratta di Paola Sartori dermatologa, Chiara Gomiero, Emanuela Schiavon
e Monica Agostini infermiere di Treviso, Simona Leonardi infermiera di Roma, Giuliano
Bacheca medico specializzato in radiologia e sua moglie Gabriella di Viterbo, e Ornella
Volpato di Monza, in supporto all’amministrazione dell’ospedale. Gli amici hanno giocato coi
bimbi e passeggiato all’interno del centro.
10th January
The children were visited by Dr. Lorenzo Stangoni and his wife Prisca from Milan Italy. The
visitors brought sweets to the children, shared stories with them and then took a group
photo with the happy children.
On the same day, Dala Kiye gave out school uniforms to 23 form three students of B. L Tezza
Complex secondary school who are under education support. The girls and boys were very
delighted and promised to work hard at school.
10 Gennaio
Il Dr. Lorenzo Stangoni e sua moglie Prisca di Milano, sono venuti al centro a trovare I bambini
a cui hanno portato caramelle e coi quali hanno fatto foto di gruppo.
Lo stesso giorno il Dala Kiye ha consegnato divise a 23 studenti della 3a superiore della scuola
B.L. Tezza. I ragazzi, riconoscenti, hanno promesso di lavorare sodo durante l’anno scolastico.
15th January
B. L Tezza Complex Secondary School began admitting year one students. Among those
expected to report were 23 orphans and vulnerable children that were under Dala Kiye
support. The 23 comprised of Emilly Awuor Ochieng, Laphid Oduru and Mercy Anyango
Okoth both of Bethlehem family house and Raymond Odongo Anyango of Nazareth house.
15 Gennaio
La scuola secondaria B.L. Tezza ha iniziato l’anno con i nuovi studenti della prima classe. Tra
questi, 23 orfani e bambini vulnerabili che fanno parte del programma di supporto del Dala
Kiye come Emilly Awuor Ochieng, Laphid Oduru e Mercy Anyango Okoth della casa famiglia di
Bethlehem e Raymond Odongo Anyango della casa famiglia di Nazareth.
18th January
The Italian visitors joined the children after supper in which they took the children through a
special event of “flying lanterns”. The children enjoyed the sight of the lamps flying in the
dark night sky.
18 Gennaio
Gli amici italiani hanno organizzato per I bambini un evento speciale, le “lanterne volanti”: è
stato bello ammirare la gioia dei bambini mentre le lanterne rosse volavano nell’oscurità del
cielo.
22nd January
The visitors, children and staff celebrated Fr. Emilio’s birthday in style immediately after
lunch. During the ceremony, those present shared a piece of a delicious Italian Christmas
cake also known as Panettone. The wonderfully designed cake that weighed 10 Kilograms
was donated by Archers Travel agency, Nairobi. Those present wished Fr. Emilio a happy
birthday and prayed for God to grant him long life.
22 Gennaio
Tutti a festeggiare il compleanno di Padre Emilio con un magnifico panettone di 10 kg donato
da Archers Travel agency, Nairobi. Insieme ad una preghiera al Signore, che possa donare a
Padre Emilio lunga vita.
25th January
“Global Fellows” from USA who were visiting Mercy Orphans Support Program’s TCB Project
visited the Centre while in the company of Fr. Emilio. The delegation comprised of 6 catholic
Deacons and 2 Priests and CRS staff from USA and Kenya. The visitors toured the facility and
were impressed by the good work. The children later entertained the visitors by presenting a
South African song. The visitors also sang an entertaining song to the children who enjoyed
every bit of it.
25 Gennaio
La delegazione americana “Global Fellows” composta da 6 diaconi, 2 sacerdoti e dallo staff
CRS dagli USA e dal Kenya, in visita al Mercy Orphans Support Program’s TCB Project, ha
visitato il centro con Fr. Emilio. I visitatori sono stati ben impressionati dal lavoro del centro. I
bambini hanno intrattenuto gli ospiti con un canto del Sud Africa e gli amici americano hanno
fatto altrettanto, cantando per loro “Nella vecchia fattoria”.
26th January
The Italian visitors joined the Children during the Holy Mass at the hospital. In the afternoon,
the visitors took the children to the hospital canteen where they bought sodas for the
children. The children were very grateful for the offer. Later in the afternoon, the visitors and
the children went for a walk along the lake shores. The children enjoyed very much the
nature walk as they could feel the cool breeze from the lake.
26 Gennaio
Tutti a Messa, presso l’ospedale, e poi nel pomeriggio, alla Canteen dell’ospedale, dove i
bimbi hanno bevuto bibite offerte dagli amici italiani, poi tutti giù al lago, per giocare
insieme, passeggiare e respirare aria fresca .
28th January
Fr. Elphas presided over a Holy Mass at B. L Tezza Complex Secondary School. During the
Mass, two students received their first baptism and first Holy Communion. Those present
included teachers and students. The session took place in the evening.
28 Gennaio
F. Elphas ha celebrato nel pomeriggio la Santa Messa presso la scuola secondaria B.L. Tezza;
durante la cerimonia, due studenti hanno ricevuto il Battesimo e la Prima Comunione,
presenti insegnanti e studenti.
31st January
Iris Gherbesi arrived with another group of Italian visitors from Lecco: Mariateresa
Ripamonti, Luisa and Fortuna Valsecchi, Vanda Quaini, Alessandro Rapella. The visitors came
to the centre and gave sweets to the children. They later visited B. L Tezza Complex primary
and secondary schools where they greeted the children and staff.
31 Gennaio
Iris Gherbesi è tornata con un gruppo di amici di Lecco: Mariateresa Ripamonti, le sorelle
Luisa e Fortuna Valsecchi, Vanda Quaini, Alessandro Rapella che hanno distribuito caramelle
ai bimbi. Hanno poi visitato le scuole primarie e secondarie B. L Tezza Complex dove hanno
potuto incontrare gli studenti e gli insegnanti.
