The Vidalia Area can host meetings, weddings, reunions, and corporate seminars, ranging from 10 people to more than 800. Overview When you are looking for the right venue to hold your next meeting, conference, reunion, wedding, or other special event, you may be surprised at the number and variety of state-of-the-art facilities here in the Southeast Georgia area around Vidalia. The Vidalia Area offers the capacity, the convenient location, and the ideal price to satisfy the needs of almost any meeting, from groups of 10 to more than 800. More than 30 unique venues in Lyons, Mount Vernon, Uvalda, and Vidalia all have one thing in common— the warmth and hospitality for which the Vidalia Area is known. The Vidalia Area is equipped to handle events as varied as weddings and reunions, corporate seminars, and board retreats. State-of-the-art technology and full-service catering are available for those who need them. Before, during or after the meeting, there are plenty of activities and attractions to catch and hold your interest, from paddling down the Altamaha River to viewing first edition, hand-colored Audubon prints; from hunting quail to sampling delicious Vidalia Onion dishes. The Vidalia Area is centrally located between Savannah and Macon, Ga., —about 90 miles from each. For those 912-538-TOUR 2 traveling from Atlanta or Columbus, Ga., the trip is only a 3-hour drive. There are three Vidalia exits off Interstate 16—exits 67, 84, and 90. From these exits, U.S. Hwy. 1, GA 297, or GA 15/29 will bring you into Vidalia. For those traveling from South Georgia, U.S. 1, U.S. 280, GA 15/29, GA 130, and GA 178 will bring you into Vidalia or Lyons. VidaliaArea.com Learn More Information There are a number of meeting and conference spaces available in Toombs and Montgomery counties. For detailed information on a specific location, please contact the Vidalia Area CVB at 912-5388687 or [email protected]. The CVB can provide you with all the assistance you need to set up your meeting, including the following: • Free brochures on the Vidalia Area’s many attractions and free help with arranging tours of area farms, an apiary, or an exotic animal preserve • Free advice on meeting and special events facilities Pick up a Visitors Guide from the Vidalia Area CVB, 100 Vidalia Sweet Onion Dr., for ideas on how to spend your down time during your meeting or event. Attractions Make your first stop the Vidalia Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, located within the same building as the Vidalia Onion Museum. Our friendly staff will tell you everything you want to know about attractions, activities, shopping, and dining. Dining—Vidalia and its surrounding towns have many quality and diverse restaurants and eateries usually only associated with bigger cities, from upscale and elegant to down-home Southern cooking, with a little international flair thrown in for good measure. Fresh is the word here, from straight-off-the-farm Vidalia Onions and other produce, quail from area plantations, and nightly seafood that was pulled from the Atlantic Ocean only that morning. Outdoor Adventure—The Vidalia Area has outdoor adventure in abundance. With three rivers running through the area—the Altamaha, the Ocmulgee, and the Ogeechee— opportunities to paddle, fish, and camp are widely available. Cyclists can bike all or part of the 27-mile, billboard-free Yamassee Bicycle Trail through gorgeous South Georgia countryside. Golfers can hone their skills at two championship 18-hole courses. Hunters will enjoy our four quail preserves and their full-service experiences. If the kids are along (or even if they’re not), a visit to Buckhorn Creek Ranch, a 250-acre exotic animal farm, will having you “oohing” as the deer eat right from your hands. And, if you’re curious about where the food in your local grocery store comes from, we have farm, apiary (honey bees), and ranch tours that will show you what it’s like to live here. Culture—From researching family roots at one of the largest genealogical libraries in the Southeast to enjoying a 200-piece collection of 20th century art; from delighting in the annual “Tales from the Altamaha” folk life play to thrilling to a performance of the Shantz pipe organ and 9-foot Yamaha Concert Grand piano in Saliba Chapel at Brewton-Parker College, the Vidalia Area has some distinctive and refined cultural opportunities. 912-538-TOUR 3 VidaliaArea.com Shopping—The downtown shopping districts of Vidalia and Lyons will delight those seeking a shopping experience that is off the beaten path— antique shops, craft boutiques, even a glass-blower’s shop. Relaxation—The Vidalia Area offers its share of pampering opportunities from hot stone massage to pedicures to yoga classes. Festivals—Celebrations are enthusiastic affairs in Vidalia. Our premier event is the annual Vidalia Onion Festival, 3 days in April chock full of parades, pageants, arts and crafts, tournaments, theatre, and entertainment. In addition to the Vidalia Onion Festival, we celebrate throughout the year with Plowdays, the Soapbox Derby, the Sweet Onion Century, Uvalda’s Ol’ Time Farm Festival, Downtown Vidalia’s Fall Festival, the Real Squeal Lyons BBQ and Bluegrass Festival, and our community’s many holiday celebrations and pageants.
