TEAM CAPTAIN’S PACKAGE #1
We are just a few days away from the big event!! Please be sure to pass all of this information along to your team
members and comply with all deadlines. You can secure additional information concerning the festival at the event
website: www.texarkanadragonboatfestival.com or by calling Race Director David Carter at 903-278-0600, or the event
production company, High Five Dragon Boat, at 813-426-3544.
DEADLINES:
All team registration fees, rosters and waivers should have been submitted by this time. If you have outstanding items,
please contact [email protected] immediately to finalize your team’s paperwork before the on-water
activities start later this week. Paddlers will not be allowed to practice if their waiver has not been received by the High
Five staff.

Practices are located at Bringle Lake Park, 7602 Bringle Lake Road, Texarkana, TX. For comfort, team members may
want to bring the following suggested items:
-
A team dry bag for keys, wallets, etc that can be left on land in one person’s car or with a family member staying
on land.
Comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting wet
Comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting wet
A “butt pad” to sit on, an hour is a long time to sit on a little wooden bench and paddle. Garden kneeling pads
from Walmart or Lowes work well
Bottle of water – bring it in the boat
Change of clothes or a sweatshirt to wear afterwards if it’s cool out – being wet in cool air isn’t fun.
Sunglasses for both sun protection and keeping the splashes out of your eyes
Sunblock
ATHLETES VILLAGE
Each team will be assigned a 10’x10’ space in the Athletes Village to rest and relax in between races. Food and drink
vendors will be on-site at the festival. Teams can bring their own water and snacks. DO NOT BRING ALCOHOL. Beer will
be available on-site for participants after racing and spectators throughout the day, 21 years of age or older.

RACE SCHEDULE
At the end of this document you will find the racing schedule. Here are a few notes about reading the schedule:

Teams must report to marshalling 20 minutes BEFORE their scheduled race time. The Race time is when the gun
will go off at the start line for them to race.
Your first 2 races are scheduled in advance
Races in rounds 1 and 2 are 2-boat races
There are an odd number of teams, so “The Compound” team is shown as racing twice in Round 1 and not at all
in Round 2 which is just a method to keep the racing going smoothly.
Both times from Rounds 1 and 2 will be added together and sorted fastest to slowest, and from that, teams will
be “seeded” into a divisional final for round 3.
The final round of racing will be 3- and 4-boat races
The winners of each divisional final will determine the winners

Gold / Silver / Bronze for the 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners of the Premier Mixed Division A Final
Gold for the 1st place winner of Premier Mixed Division B Final
Gold for the 1st place winner of Premier Open Division A Final
Gold for the 1st place winner of Premier Men’s and Open Final
