The very large green contains mild sloping with a substantial elevation drop off to the back and right. # 14 Handicap Hole HOLE # 2 A 423 to 509 yard par five with the meandering Wissahickon Creek bordering the left side and wrapping around behind the hole. Bunkers line the fairway and protect the front and left side of the green. The putting surface is two-tiered with a two-foot elevation change from back to front. The visual backdrop to the hole is a mature forest of varied hardwoods. # 8 Handicap hole HOLE # 3 A 341 to 423 yard uphill par four which begins with a tee shot over water. Both sides of the hole are wooded with mature pines and there are fairway as well as greenside bunkers. The green slopes severely from left to right making it a very challenging hole from start to finish. # 2 Handicap hole. HOLE # 4 A 313 to 366 yard downhill par four with a plateau green, very well protected by bunkers and a large lake. A well-placed tee-shot is a must on this beautiful hole, pictured on our scorecard. A small, sloping green makes “4” a good score here. # 10 Handicap Hole. HOLE # 5 111 to 204 yard uphill par three. This beautiful hole is surrounded with mature woods and is bordered on the right by a marked elevation drop off. There are bunkers on both sides of the green as well as mid way to the hole. # 6 Handicap Hole. HOLE #6 A 484 to 537 yard par five dogleg right beginning with an elevated tee shot. There are multiple fairway bunkers and the green is protected by more sand and the creek to the back. The hole narrows as one approaches the green with mature pines to greet your approach shots. # 16 Handicap Hole. HOLE # 7 A 297 to 386 yard par four dogleg left with a creek immediately in front of the tee. This hole is well bunkered on both sides of the dogleg and to the left side of the green, allowing for tricky left side pin placements. This large slightly elevated green has a falloff on both sides as well as to the back. Mature trees backdrop this green and penalize golfers who are overly aggressive with their approach shots. # 12 Handicap Hole. HOLE # 8 A 280 to 398 yard par four dogleg to the right. Mature woods border the right side of the fairway on this difficult hole. The green is well protected by sand and features subtle sloping which results in hazardous putting conditions. # 4 Handicap Hole. HOLE # 9 A 133 to 205 yard par three that plays deceivingly uphill. Wind is usually a factor, making club selection to this sloping green very challenging. Golfers are urged to keep their ball below the hole here as downhill putts many times turn into three-putts! Junior Golf Pilot Program (JGPP) Overview The Junior Golf Pilot Program (JGPP) is a new initiative designed to expand the use of our golf facilities by making available our golf programs and clubhouse privileges to children whose families are not golf members. Applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in playing ability and in understanding the rules and etiquette associated with the game of golf. Preferred consideration is being extended to children of families of our House members. Additional space in the program will then be offered to coaches of our area High School and College golf programs – who may know of young men and women that could enjoy this opportunity. Qualification Requirements • • • • The JGPP is limited to 10 participants. Children ages 13 – 18 may participate; as well as children up to age 21 if they are living at home and enrolled in college. Applicants to the JGPP will be interviewed by a member of the Golf Staff to determine their proficiency in golf; including playing ability, rules and etiquette before being accepted into the program. JGPP players are responsible to follow all member rules and regulations as set forth by the club each year. JGPP status will be reviewed on a yearly basis and Cedarbrook Country club has the rights to remove the privileges of any JGPP participant. Financial Commitments • • • There is no Initiation Fee, Bond requirement or House Minimum with this program for 2010. Annual dues for JGPP members are $1625.00 – which includes a locker (when eligible) and bag storage JGPP participants’ charges must be guaranteed by their parents. Parents must sign an agreement to this effect and have a credit card on file with Cedarbrook Country Club to be used in the case of a delinquent House Account. Dear Prospective Member: I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our very active Cedarbrook Women’s Golf Group. We welcome all to join and enjoy our many fun golfing activities. Our regular Women’s Golf Day is every Tuesday morning starting mid April and ending in mid October. Tee times usually start around 8:00 AM and many stay for lunch afterwards. Fun and different types of tournaments are offered on these days. Besides the Tuesday tournament days, we also have special tournaments like our Senior/Super Senior, Grandmothers, J. Wood Platt, Rally for the Cure, and a special Memorial Cup tournament honoring our past members. Along with the above special tournaments, we have our Women’s Club Championship and our Mixed Husband/Wife Championship in mid July. We also have a Nine and Dine Member Guest in August and our regular Mixed Member Guest in July. Our Better/Ball and Handicap Tournaments continue through the months of May until October. Many members play in our mixed tournaments on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Tee times and specific dates are found in our monthly newsletter. As a way to introduce the great game of golf to women we have initiated a program called “Fairway Friends” where we will go out on the course and take beginner golfers with us to teach them course management, etc. This is a wonderful way to make new friends and help make all feel more comfortable with the game. Once a month we have mixed couple Nine and Dines held on Friday evenings at 5:00 PM. We welcome all handicaps to play in these events. It is a social event with dinner following our nine holes of golf. Many beginner players join in on the fun of these events. As you can see, we have much to offer. Any interested golfer can give me a call with questions, or if you are interested in joining any of these activities. I’d be happy to introduce you and play in any of these events with you to extend our hospitality to make you feel welcome. I hope to meet you soon and welcome you to Cedarbrook Country Club! Sincerely, Kathie Cardano 2011/2012 Women’s Golf Chairperson (215) 540-8295
