54. EUROPA RALLY 21-25.05.2015 | ŚWIDNICA 2015 Po l a n d Organizator: Automobilklub Sudecki w Świdnicy www.europarally2015.pl Świdnica, surprising and attractive Dear Camping friends, welcome to the 54th Europa Rally In May campers from all over Europe will meet and greet in Świdnica in Poland. The Automobile Club Sudecki - supported by the beautiful community of Świdnica - has signed for the organisation of the 54th European Rally. In August 2013 our delegation has brought a visit to Świdnica and was warmly received at the Campsite Świdnica. This small, charming and clean campsite (50 pitches) lies on about 2 km from the city centre, next to the OSIR Sports centre, which the town has foreseen as the rally site. The campsite offers space to campers who arrive before and want to stay after the rally. The campsite itself is not in use for the Europa Rallye. Świdnica (formerly Schweidnitz) is situated from Gorlitz (Zgorgelez) at the German border on about 130 Kilometres south-east in the green Sudecki (formerly Sudetenland) and south-west from Wroclaw. The city is easily accessible and the OSIR sports centre www.osir.swidnica.pl is well signposted from all sides. The Rally ground includes: Ice rink (festive hall, were the opening ceremony and the festive evenings will take place) with pizzeria and parking, 2 football-fields for approximately 300 pitches, a swimming pool with sunbathing area (about 40 pitches). Depending on the weather, the swimming pool will - during the rally - be closed to the general public and available for the rally-participants. The whole site is fenced and the access is via a large lockable gate. The camp site next to the sports centre has some basic rooms for rent and, there is a sports hotel on the left, next to the rally site. The city is enterprising and the inhabitants are proud of their vibrant economy, many sporting events, music festivals (jazz and classical), street theatre and much more. The town is beautiful with special attractions: the breath taking Church of Peace (World Inheritance) 1632; cosy colourful terraces, a beautiful cathedral and a carefully rebuilt town tower, which can be visited. We are convinced that the 54. Europa Rally in Świdnica has surprising good possibilities and we hope, that many campers will find their way to this unexpected, attractive and hostile Polish city. I wish all participants a good and safe trip to Świdnica and I hope to see you there in great numbers. Europa Rally Committee Kees Splint President 54. EUROPA RALLY | 21-25.05.2015 ŚWIDNICA Świdnica is an enchanting place located in the heart of Europe, shadowed by the Town Hall Tower reconstructed in 2012. All visitors approaching the city immediately spot the highest tower of Lower Silesia, 101.5 meters tall Gothic tower of saint Stanisław and Wacław cathedral. 750 years of traditions can be notices around the city – the medieval town setting of the Market Square, beautiful tenements houses presenting a whole bunch of styles and the atmosphere of former merchant town contribute to the fact that Świdnica is one of the kind town with its unique character. As the capital city of former Duchy of Świdnica and Jawor, Świdnica was crossed by the most important trade routes as visible in interesting exhibitions of Merchant Museum created in 1967 in the Town Hall. The church to saint Joseph was fit in the condensed urban setting by receiving an unusual elliptical shape. The prominent symbol of Świdnica is the seventeenth-century Church of Peace registered on UNESCO World Heritage List. The interiors of the wooden church impress with a Baroque decor, especially the unique Baroque organ. The centre of Świdnica is surrounded by picturesque parks inviting for relax while visiting the city. All the most interesting beauty spots of the city have been included in a special „Citywalk” branded Prince Route for visitors. The audio guide in four language versions borrowed from local Tourist Information Centre located in the Market Place will allow you to plan your sightseeing according to your preferences. Świdnica is worth visiting not only to visit remarkable and breath-taking architecture, but also to participate in numerous events. In spring and summer time, citizens and visitors take active part in Film Directors Festival, open air concerts during Świdnica Feast and Open Theatre Festival. Our guests throughout the year have a chance to listen to excellent music during Świdnica Jazz Nights as well as instrumental concerts during the International Bach Festival. Nowadays, Świdnica combines modernity with charm of medieval town memorabilia. 8 54. One of the three biggest buildings in Poland (after Malbork and Wawel castle) is full of unrevealed secrets in undiscovered corridors as well as Lower Silesian Geophysical Observatory of Polish Academy of Sciences. Wonderful surroundings of the castle are complemented by lovely gardens, parks and so called the Old Książ - artificially created romantic ruins. Following the initiative of Maria Theresa Cornwallis-West, called Princess Daisy, in the early twentieth century in the nearby Lubiechów a botanical garden with exotic plants was founded. EUROPA RALLY | 21-25.05.2015 ŚWIDNICA 4. WROCŁAW description: The capital of Lower Silesia has over 1000 years of history; despite significant damages during the war (over 70% of buildings), most of them have been renovated. Nowadays, the Wrocław Old Town sparkles with its 3rd biggest market place and the gothic town hall with the oldest tower clock; the city is crossed by the Oder river that together with a system of moats creates a network of 117 bridges and footbridges. The oldest part of Wroclaw is the Cathedral Island which has been inhabited since at least the ninth century, with a complex of churches, including the metropolitan cathedral church to John the Baptist and the church to saint Idzi - the oldest building in this part of town. Not far away there is the Racławice Panorama - a monumental work, one of four nineteenth-century panoramas painted under the direction of Jan Styka and Wojciech Kossak. Families in Wambierzyce has been built in the place where in the twelfth century John of Raszewo miraculously regained his sight praying under a wooden statue of Our Lady. This event initiated numerous pilgrimages followed by building the altar and later temples of which only the one built in the years 1715-1723 survived. To enter this monumental Baroque basilica you have to climb 56 steps of a stone staircase. Very interesting are also the Calvary of Wambierzyce, moving crib, Chapel Museum and above all the linden wood 28 inch tall figurine of the Virgin Mary. Also the Basilica of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bardo represents a strong Marian devotion with its roots dating back to thirteenth century due to the wonders of the famous statue of Virgin Mary and Child called Enthroned Madonna. In the temple you can see one of very few survived paintings of a Baroque painter from Świdnica Franz Heigl. In front of the basilica, on the Mount of Bardo there is a Calvary where according to the memoirs from the fifteenth century, the Blessed Virgin appeared on the rock leaving the imprint of her feet and hands. You can visit this place walking down the tourist route from which you can admire the breakthrough of the Nysa Kłodzka river. additional information: www.wroclaw.pl, www.dolnyslask.info.pl additional information: www.wambierzyce.pl, www.bardo.pl program: 10.00 – visiting the Old Town 11.00 – visiting the Racławice Panorama 12.00 – visiting the Cathedral Island 14.00 – lunch 15.30 – departure to Świdnica 15.50 – return to Świdnica program: 10.30 – visiting the Virgin Mary the Queen of Families in Wambierzyce 12.30 – visiting the Basilica of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bardo 13.50 – departure to Świdnica 15.00 – lunch 16.30 – return to Świdnica route: Świdnica > Wrocław > Boleścin > Świdnica duration: 6 h 50 min price: € 40 5.
