SFN ZENITH N.O.P. SFN ZENITH N.O.P. Jeroen Dubbeldam discovered Zenith as a seven-year-old competing at an international show in Hagen, 2011. “You are always looking for good horses. I saw one that I thought would suit me well, and he just so happened to be one of the SFN selector’s horses, so I told Jacob Melissen, Director of SFN.” After Melissen identified the selector as Willy van der Ham, he called him immediately and so the long and successful relationship began. Zenith arrived at Jeroen’s stables a week later for a three-week trial period and after seeing how well Zenith jumped under Jeroen’s guidance, the selectors made the decision to buy the horse for the Fund. Jeroen Dubbeldam has stated on multiple occasions that he does not want to compete every weekend, but rather focus on the classics of the international showjumping sport. Time and time again, Jeroen has proved that his methodology works, and he is only the second showjumping rider in the world, after Hans Günter Winkler, to achieve the individual Olympic, World and European Championship titles during their career. “When I enter a ring, everything needs to be 100%. If I know ahead of the competition that the horse is not ready, I do not ride to win but to educate and train the horse. During that educational process, I refuse to make concessions. However, if it really matters I’m willing to improvise if necessary and make concessions to my riding, because then it’s all about winning. That is why I choose my goals very carefully, and every year those goals are championships. Who can still remember who won the Grand Prix of Rotterdam in 2006? However, everyone knows I became an Olympic Champion in 2000. That is the story that sticks. I could have ridden more competitions with Zenith than I actually did, but I chose not to.” SFN Zenith N.O.P. has an incredible track record, with highlights including being part of the victorious team at the 2014 Nations Cup Finals in Barcelona, having jumped clear rounds in the Nations Cups in Rotterdam, Rome and Aachen, earlier in the season. The World Equestrian Games in Caen, 2014, were particularly memorable, with the Dutch team winning gold and Dubbeldam seizing the individual title. This was followed by a second Dutch double at the European Championships in Aachen, 2015, with Dubbeldam and Zenith being the only combination to remain without faults throughout the entire competition, resulting in team and individual gold medals.
