Level Sensor
Series EP1226
The EP1226 solid state, non-contact level sensor monitors liquid level in a
variety of applications. Encapsulated in a low profile enclosure, the electronic mass sensor is configured to work either in conjunction with the
Tecmark® EP1217 / EP1227 timers or as a stand-alone device. Designed
for use with non-metallic containers. The sensor mounts via double sided
adhesive backed foam tape to the “dry” side of the container.
Use with EP1217 / EP1227 timers: The level sensor interfaces with the motor
timer, via an optional three-pin header located on the timer to facilitate easy
electrical connection. The level sensor will inhibit actuation of the timer’s
load relay until a pre-selected fluid level has been attained. If fluid level
drops below the sensor actuation point during normal operation of the timer,
the load relay will immediately de-energize to prohibit potential equipment
or liquid spray damage. The timer will remain de-energized until the proper
fluid level is restored and the PCB mounted air switch is actuated again.
Stand Alone System: Powering a relay coil the sensor provides a logic signal
to energize the relay when sufficient liquid level is sensed, or de-energize the
relay if liquid level is insufficient.

Timers
Series EP1217 / EP1227
EP1217
The EP1217 / EP1227 family of solid state motor timers are command systems
which employ a conformal coated, open panel circuit board assembly. The controls
include a digital timer circuit and integral air switch mounted to a double-sided
fiberglass printed circuit board. Individual models are configured for installation in
various motor end bell assemblies or for mounting in separate electrical enclosures.
This family of timers offer 10, 20, and 30 minute time delay periods as standard,
with other time delay periods available as options. All models feature reset capability for additional time. Additionally, models are available for use with the Tecmark® EP1226 solid state, non-contact liquid level sensor.
Upon actuation of the PCB mounted air switch, the timer is started and the
load relay is energized, applying line voltage to the output terminal. The load
relay will de-energize when the time delay period expires, or if a second air
switch actuation occurs during the time delay period. In both cases, the load
relay is interrupted and the timer is reset.
Models configured to work in conjunction with Tecmark’s EP1226 level sensor
module have a three-pin header to facilitate easy electrical connection. The level
sensor will inhibit actuation of the timer’s load relay until a preselected fluid level
has been attained. If fluid level drops below the sensor actuation point during normal operation of the timer, the load relay will immediately de-energize to prohibit
potential equipment or liquid spray damage. The timer will remain de-energized
until the proper fluid level is reacquired and the PCB mounted air switch is actuated again.

C) THERMOWELL INSTALLATION
Location of the thermostat sensing bulb is critical. If the thermowell
is installed in the plumbing of the circulation system, then it must be
between the spa and the inlet to the spa heater. (see Fig. A)
As stated previously, ALWAYS USE A THERMOWELL to house the
sensing bulb of the thermostat at the final point of installation. Location
of the thermostat sensing bulb is critical to control performance. For
the best thermowell installation, see Fig. B. below.
Tecmark® optional thermowells can be installed via 1/2-14 NPT
threads. Proper spa temperature maintenance can be achieved only if
the following points are considered:
1) Thermowell is positioned before the heater to monitor only the spa
water temperature. (See Fig. A)
2) Sensing bulb and cable are not exposed to damage or extreme temperature. (See Fig*B)
3) Proper water flow around the entire thermowell is insured.
4) Bulb is inserted all the way into the thermowell. (see Fig. C)
D) THERMOSTAT SENSING BULB INSTALLATION
Insert the temperature sensing bulb all the way into the thermowell.
Tecmark® optional thermowells are supplied with a split grommet. Pull
the grommet open, slide it over the sensing cable and press the small
end of the grommet into the thermowell. (See Fig. C)
WARNING
TEMPERATURE SENSING CABLE MUST BE INSTALLED SO
THAT IT IS NOT EXPOSED TO ACCIDENTAL CUTS, DAMAGE,
OR EXCESSIVE HEAT (80˚C OR 176˚F) OR HIGHER.
INSTALLATION
The Command Center® may be installed in any position and in most locations, except DO NOT MOUNT UNDER WATER. When selecting
a location to mount the Command Center®, consideration to its placement must be given based on the length limitations of the temperature
sensing cable and cordset.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To assure proper operation, the temperature
sensing bulb must be installed correctly. ALWAYS USE A THERMOWELL to house the sensing bulb at the final point of installation.
Failure to install the sensing bulb correctly could result in damage to
the control or poor control response.
E) CONNECT CORDSET AND AIR HOSES
Plug the molded male plug of the Command Center® into the female
receptacle on the equipment pack cabinet. POWER SUPPLY MUST
MATCH THE ELECTRICAL RATING ON THE COMMAND
CENTER® LABEL. Attach either 1/8” I.D. or 1/16” I.D. air hose to
the air buttons on the Command Center® and to the air switches in the

NOTE: THE LENGTH OF AIR HOSE BETWEEN THE AIR
BUTTONS AND AIR SWITCHES SHOULD BE LIMITED TO AN
AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO MAKE THE CONNECTION. ANY
EXCESS LENGTH OF HOSE MAY RESULT IN POOR AIR
TRANSMISSION.
A) LOCATE COMMAND CENTER®
First consideration must be given to where the Command Center® is to
be mounted. The maximum distance between the Command Center®
and the thermowell is the total overall length of the sensing bulb and
cable. We recommend that you allow at least 2” of play for easy access
during installation and removal of the bulb from the thermowell.
F) FACEPLATE LABEL
Remove the backing from the faceplate label, handling the label by its
edges. Install the label to the top surface of the Command Center® and

LectricAir®
Series SAFPAC
Single Outlet Control
The LectricAir® SAFPAC controls are air actuated electrical
switch systems that promote intrinsically safe control of electrical
devices. The SAFPAC control system is comprised of three basic
components: the plug-in the wall controller, the air transmitter,
and an interconnecting air hose. The SAFPAC control is available
with a single outlet or up to four female outlet receptacles. The
SAFPAC controller can be used with a variety of Tecmark’s pressure
transmitter and tubing combinations. When the transmitter is
depressed, air in the transmitter is displaced through rubber tubing
to an air switch or air switched timer housed in the plug-in-the-wall
controller box. The air switch completes or interrupts the electrical
circuit, turning on or off the electrical device, which has been
plugged into the controller’s grounded receptacle.

Series M and MPT
SERIES M
Series M and Series MPT transmitters are an essential component in Tecmark’s
pneumatic switching technology, LectricAir®, which safely isolates the user from
the electrical current. The Series M and Series MPT air transmitters provide the
pulse air pressure needed to operate a remote air switch. The compact and efficient
features of these transmitters are designed for hand actuation and can operate
Tecmark® component switches from distances of up to 100 feet.
Superior quality construction makes Series M and Series MPT transmitters suitable for
environments up to 200° F. Series M and Series MPT transmitters incorporate EPDM
bellows material which is impervious to ozone and ideal for use around chemically treated water. Their mechanical life expectancy far exceeds industry acceptable standards.
