EATING HABITS IN ITALY
BREAKFAST IN ITALY
Breakfast is a small meal in Italy. Never mind, they will make up for it later at lunch –the most
important meal- and dinner –also a social occasion. Every Italian town has its own recipe to
make cheese. There are about 400 different kinds of cheese. There are at least 300 types of
sausages.
Italian people drink coffee, preferably capuccino or espresso. Most of the days, Italians drink
a quick espresso and a pastry or bun at the bar counter. When they are not in a hurry to get
to work, they take the time luxuriate in a more exotic breakfast, mixing sweet and savory
items.
People are very proud of their local wine. They drink wine for breakfast. Kids also drink milk
for breakfast.
LUNCH IN ITALY
A typical lunch consists of a first course, such as a soup or thinly sliced deli meats, a second
course, such as a pasta or lasagna dish. A third course, such as meat and vegetables. Salad
is served at the end of the meal in order to help digestion. Italians usually drink wine and
water with every meal. At the end of the meal, they drink espresso or a digestive alcoholic
drink.
DINNER IN ITALY
Dinner is usually and traditionally a light meal in Italy. When Italians dine out, they usually eat
at pizzerias and restaurants. They are popular choices. For dinner, people usually have
lighter food, such as soup, salad, cold meat, and pasta. The most popular dinner dish is
pizza.
Top 10 Italian Foods
LASAGNA
The word also refers to a dish made with this type of pasta. As with most other types of
pasta, the word is a plural form, lasagna meaning more than one piece of lasagna ribbon.
Traditionally, the dough was prepared in Southern Italy with semolina and water and in the
northern regions, where semolina wasn’t available, with flour and eggs. Nowadays in Italy,
since the only type of wheat allowed for pasta is durum wheat, lasagna are made of semolina
and eggs.

PIZZA
It is the most popular dinner or lunch food. In pizza, there are cheese, sausage, mushroom,
onion, olive, and tomatoes.
MINESTRONE
Minestrone is a thick soup of Italian origin made with vegetables, often with the addition of
pasta or rice. Common ingredients are beans, onions, celery, carrots, stock, and tomatoes.
There is no set recipe for minestrone, since it is usually made out of whatever vegetables are
in season.
RISOTTO
Risotto is a class of Italian dishes of rice cooked. It can be meat-, fish-, or vegetable-based.
Many types of risotto contain Parmesan cheese, butter, and onion. It is one of the most
common ways of cooking rice in Italy.

RAVIOLI
Ravioli is a traditional type of Italian filled pasta. They are composed of a filling sealed
between two layers of thin egg pasta dough and are served either in broth or with a pasta
sauce.
PENNE
Penne is traditionally cooked al dente and served with pasta sauces such as pesto and
marinara.
Penne is a popular ingredient in pasta salads. Penne makes an excellent and versatile pasta
for many applications because of its very practical design. The hollow center allows it to hold
sauce.
GNOCCHI
Gnocchi are various thick, soft dumplings. They may be made from semolina, ordinary wheat
flour and egg, flour, egg, and cheese, potato, breadcrumbs, or similar ingredients. Gnocchi
are eaten as a first course, alternatives to soups, or pasta.
They are generally home-made in Italian. They may also be bought fresh from specialty
stores. In supermarkets, industrially-produced packaged gnocchi are widely available
refrigerated, dried, or frozen.

PARMA HAM DISHES
This is one of the best Italian ham. It is produced in the same area where famous Parmesan
cheese is produced. Parma hams are seasoned, salt-cured and air-dried but not smoked.
Parma hams are usually thinly sliced and eaten raw as an appetizer (often with melon) but
they can be used in cooking as well.
ELICHE
The pasta is very popular in Italy. It has a very twisted shape that has many folds to hold
tomato-based and cheese sauces.
BISCOTTI
Biscotti is more correctly known as biscotti di Prato. It is also known as cantuccini. They are
twice-baked biscuits originating in the Italian city of Prato. The biscuits are oblong-shaped
almond biscuits, made dry and crunchy through cutting the loaf of dough while still hot and
fresh from baking in the oven.

BREAKFAST IN SPAIN
Spanish people think that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. They usually have
a very quick breakfast, such as a sandwich, bread roll, toast and orange juice, chocolate milk
or a cup of coffee.
They have a break at their offices or schools. They usually prefer sandwiches with fish,
cheese, or meat. They drink black and strong coffee.
LUNCH IN SPAIN
Lunch is the main meal of the day and takes place anywhere. At first, they have a salad or
soup, then they eat meat or fish. They usually drink wine at lunch. Dessert is usually pudding
or some fruit.
DINNER IN SPAIN
Many people go for a quick drink at a bar after work. They have dinner late in the evening, so
you may want to keep your energy up with a snack. The snack is similar to breakfast and
often consists of a sandwich and a drink. Dinner starts at 9 pm and can last until midnight at
home. They have a full meal in evenings.

PAELLA
Paella is made of rice and saffron. Its colour is yellow. There are three widely known types of
paella: Valencian paella, seafood paella and mixed paella.
SANGRIA
Sangria is very popular in Spain. It consists wine, chopped fruits, sweetener and small
amount of added brandy. It should be cold before drink.

LECHANZO
It is baked lamb meat. It is very popular in Spain.
ARROZ CON LECHE (RICE PUDDING)
It is made of rice and sugar mixed with water or milk. Its colour is white. It is similar to Turkish
Rice pudding.
MIGAS
Migas means "crumbs" in Spanish. It is traditionally served for breakfast. There is garlic,
spinach, alfalfa, pimenton, chorizo or bacon in it.

CHORIZO
Chorizo is a fresh sausage. It is cooked before eating. It is made of meat, paprika and salt.
JAMON SERRANO
Spanish jamon serrano is a type of ham. It is famous and expensive. It is made of white pig
meat.
GAZPACHO
Gazpacho is a cold tomato soup. Gazpacho is mostly consumed during the summer months.
It’s sometimes served with ice.

In Russia, there are four meals in a day. They are in different times. The first meal is at 7.00
am. The second meal is at 12.00 am. The third meal is at 2.00 pm. The fourth meal is at 8.00
pm.
BREAKFAST IN RUSSIA
The first meal of the day is breakfast. It is usually something light. Many Russians simply eat
bread with cheese and ham and coffee or tea.
There is a strong work ethic in Russia and many people believe that in order to work hard,
one must eat well otherwise he/she will be very tired. This means to add pancakes,
omelettes and sandwiches to the breakfast.
Kasha, a type of porridge, traditionally thought of as peasant food, is also common for
breakfast.
For young children, Kawa is a great meal and actually you can find it ready with berry to be
“more tasty”.
LUNCH IN RUSSIA
Lunch starts with a small zakuska.
The most authentic Russian zakuska are the following:
– pickled cabbage, cucumbers, mushrooms,
– salted fish,
– smoked meat (ham, poultry, cold-boiled pork).
It is followed by soup that is made from a homemade stock. It can be chicken soup, meat
soup, cabbage soup or beetroot soup.

It is Russian's most famous dish of chicken. People like it very much. It is eaten both at lunch
and dinner. There are chicken, mushrooms, oil, salt, black pepper, onion and cream in it.

RUSSIAN POTATO SALAD
It is very easy to prepare. You just need boiled potatoes, spices and vegetables. You can
serve this salad to your guests with tea.
There are Patotoes, onion, olive oil, spices, pepper, salt and persty in it.
KESKIDLI
It is very light dessert. You can do it very easily because the ingredients can be found
everywhere.
There are cream, milk, sugar, puff pastary dough, and walnut in it.
MOSCOW’S CAKE
Russian people prepare this cake for their special dates. For example, Christmas and
birthday.
There are cocoa, flour, milk, sugar, cream, egg, powder, and vanilline in it.

Vodka is the most famous drink in Russia.
It is made of grapes and there is alcohol in it.

BREAKFAST IN CHINA
They don't eat eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast. Breakfast with a morning paper is not a
Chinese custom. Breakfast is a quick, even on Sundays! At home, breakfast is rice porridge
or soy bean milk soup.
LUNCH IN CHINA
Chinese people generally eat low-fat lunch. The most popular lunch is a noodle soup, served
everywhere, even on the streets at small stands. They often have different toppings, or small
round pork balls. There's also the traditional dim sum, these come in a wide variety of small
plates.
Dim sum refers to a style of Chinese food prepared as small bite-sized. Eating dim sum at a
restaurant is usually known as going to "drink tea" (yum cha) Tea is typically served with dim
sum.
DINNER IN CHINA
Chinese people eat rice with each of their meals (Breakfast, lunch, dinner etc.) If they don't
eat rice, they will eat noodles instead. They eat many different fried vegetables. They also
eat beef, pork, chicken, and fish.

chicken broth, and sugar. The dish is typically topped with toasted sesame seeds.
WONTON SOUP
Wontons are made by spreading a square wrapper flat in the palm of one's hand, placing a
small amount of filling in the center, and sealing the wonton into the desired shape by
compressing the wrapper's edges together with the fingers. It is made of flour, egg, water,
and salt).

Dinner is usually the main meal of the day. Modern Japanese dishes are highly influenced by

The kind of food served will change according to the different months, seasons and what is
freshly available at the local market. It is also depends on the area.
The dinner can consist of anywhere from 6 to 15 different kinds of food. For example, soups,

The name of this popular dish comes from its two main ingredients, chicken and egg.

Inarizushi is a simple and inexpensive type of sushi, in which sushi rice is filled into aburaage
(deep fried tofu) bags.
Chirashi (チラシ) :
Chirashizushi is a dish in which seafood, mushroom and vegetables are spread over sushi
rice.
It can resemble domburi with the difference being that chirashizushi uses sushi rice while
domburi uses regular, unseasoned rice.
Matsutake (松茸) :
Matsutake are highly priced gourmet mushrooms, that cannot be cultivated and are available
only in autumn.
They are found under pine trees (matsu), and are most valuable ones. Matsutake are
enjoyed in various ways such as grilled or cooked with rice.

Künefe is considered to be one of the most delicious Turkish desserts, especially in the city
of Antakya located on Mediterrenean Sea, in Southern Turkey.
Although künefe shops are very common throughout Hatay, Kilis, Adana, Mersin and
Gaziantep provinces, the city of Antakya in Hatay is known for the best künefe in Turkey.
BAKLAVA
In Turkey, there is a saying “Tatlı yiyelim, tatlı konuşalım”, meaning “Let’s eat sweet and let’s
speak sweet”. So if you want to eat sweet and speak sweet, I recommend you to eat the
delightful dessert, ‘Baklava’.

Dolma is a stuffed vegetable dish in the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire and
