NSTIP
 To ensure the achievement of the national policy of science
and technology strategies, a national science, technology
and innovation plan (NSTIP) was developed.
 The NSTIP consists of (8) strategic programs diverging into
a number of projects to be co-executed by National by :
 Public and
 Private Saudi economic sectors.

Submission requirements
 Applications must be submitted through the NSTIP e-portal at:
http://nstip.kacst.edu.sa only on the specific date for submission.
 It is recommended that applicants read the guidelines on filling the
research proposal
 The applicant must verify that the research proposal is aligned with
one of the strategic technologies priorities
 The budget of the proposed research project <2 million SAR and <
24 months
 The Scientific Integrity Guidelines, the Living Creatures Research
Ethics Law, as the need of the project is, must be observed.
 The record of the researcher should be free from any violation of
“Scientific Integrity Rules”.
 The project should be submitted through STU
 The signature, national ID and legal residence cards numbers of each
researcher must be checked.

 Proposals are accepted twice a year:
a) 1-31 March.
b) 1-30 September

Submit research proposal to the unit at NSTIP e-portal
(http://nstip.kacst.edu.sa) within deadlines
Flow of
Process
STU’s scientific committees verify applications,
paperwork & prepare recommendations
STU submit most appropriate proposals to general secretariat
Secretariat further verifies proposal, forward for evaluation and
notifies unit for forwarded projects (≈ 3-6 months)
After obtaining evaluation report, secretariat informs preparatory
committee and STU about outcome of evaluation
Preliminary committee submit their recommendation to Supervisory
committee
Chairman of Supervisory committee reports to ministry of Finance for the grant.
Ministry of finance deposits approved funds to SAMA stakeholder account.

Stakeholder’s authority and Head researcher signs research
contract. Initiate research within 60days after signing

3. Click on NEW USER, Registration screen will open

4. After giving the required data, click on REGISTER

The system should redirect you to a screen where you can select your profile
from Saudi Researcher database (if you are already registered in Saudi
Researcher Database).

 11. Provide the email address
 (which is used to register in Saudi Researcher Database) and
click on “Search”.
 If any record is displayed in the search result table then select
the record and click on “Select SRDB Profile”.
 Else Click on the “Create SRDB Profile” button.

12. Register in SRDB
 Select Institute or Select University based on researcher belongs to.
 Select “University”, “College”, scientific degree” from dropdown menu.
 Provide input on “Specialization” field.
 Select “Field of Interest”, based on selection of Field of Interest,
corresponding “Sub field of interest” field is automatically populated.
 Select “Sub field of interest” field from drop down.
 Select updated CV for upload.

 Following Notification appear once your profile is
completed.
 Profile review is done by STU
 Upon acceptance, application window opens, fill all
application forms based on the guidelines available at
the websites.

18. Reply back if there is any comments from STU before
submission to KACST on the portal.
19. Revert back to KACST in case of any query through
portal.
20. Download various forms required to be filled once
project is approved for grant.
