Thank you Neenah for fielding a lot of questions from other stations. Podcast Rate Guide - We came out with a podcasting rate guide for independent producers. - We had dozens of conversations inside and outside the public media sphere. - The rates table is based on a producer’s level of expertise and the complexity of work being commissioned. - We’re on the mark, but over the next two months we’re going to issue a revision based on debriefs we’ve had. PRPD - This year AIR and PRPD aren’t going to collaborate in the same way, but we will produce a session with Code Switch’s, Shereen Marisol Meraji. - PRPD is September 29 - October 1, 2015 in Pittsburgh, PA. Most of my professional experience has been in TV, both narrative and reality, as a production assistant and director’s assistant. I’m trying to make a switch into audio production, and I’m just starting out. What's the best piece you've ever heard: That’s a really tough question. The best piece I’ve heard recently would have to be Unconditional, which is a recent episode of KCRW’s Strangers by Lea Thau. It’s the story of a woman’s adoption. It inspired me to try to find and document the search for my own birth mother. How does public media reflect your American experience: It reflects my American experience by telling different stories. Every day I listen to a story I’ve never heard before. You hear details about peoples’ lives, not just broad stories. Nobody feels like their life is an archetype, and I’m no exception. I feel like public radio reflects that. How could it reflect your experience better: There are some great stories about women and people of color being shared, which I love. Right now, it seems like there is a predominately Caucasian perspective, as far as who is holding the microphone. As a person of color, I’d love to see the perspectives start to reflect the subjects a little more. It seems like everyone really wants that to happen, and I see a lot of opportunities to hear female and minority voices, so I’m really excited for that to start happening more and more in the future. Who have you always wanted to interview: Angela Davis _____________________________________________________________________________________________ MENTORSHIPS Underway: 3 Completed YTD: 24 *A second round of AIR’s Entrepreneurial Coaching Fellowships begins Aug. 31, 2015 with up to twelve mid to late career fellows. I would love to do it again.” – Jeff Emtman “The mentorship program was the one-on-one advice, encouragement and information that I desperately needed at this point. I will pass on what I learned to others who may need the same information. Thanks to all who make this program possible.” – Nancy Camden BY THE NUMBERS Total Membership: 1058 5 This is our biggest network population ever.
