Our Programme Advisory Committee need your abstract submission by 29 June 2007. For a full list of topics covered, plus instuctions on how to apply visit www.gastech.co.uk Why Thailand? A region of opportunity The Asia Pacific region has the largest population and contains some of the fastest growing economies in the world. With high demand on expensive oil imports and increasing consumption, the Ministry of Energy has accelerated the development of natural gas, revised laws to attract investors and implemented pro-active policies to promote the region as a strong alternative for gas exploration. Now playing a pivotal role in establishing Thailand’s energy security, natural gas is the energy of choice for power generation; expanding rapidly into the fast growing industrial, transportation and petrochemical sectors. The use of natural gas has also extended into the commercial and residential sectors through the application of district cooling and cogeneration. In the transport sector, Thailand seeks an opportunity to use “NGV” (natural gas for vehicles) to reduce the impact of high oil price. A planned regasification plant is also on track to receive LNG imports and will make Thailand attractive for gas suppliers worldwide. Natural gas will continue to fuel the country’s future growth and prosperity for many decades to come. Investments in new infrastructure, and Thailand’s strategic location between Middle Eastern and Asian countries places it perfectly as a regional energy hub – the Thai flag is firmly on the energy map of the world. THE CITY OF ANGELS A city of fascinating contrasts, this is one capital city that teams with tradition, and yet remains at the forefront of what is hip and happening. Gleaming skyscrapers and designer boutiques stand beside floating markets and dazzling, historical temples. Fast becoming the travel hub for the entire south-east Asian region, Bangkok has it all. Let us introduce you to some of the world’s finest treasures. Bangkok will not fail to impress. A WORLD CLASS VENUE Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) is Thailand’s leading venue for international exhibitions and conferences, offering both exhibitors and visitors some of the finest facilities in the world. Standing in the eastern sector of the thriving metropolis that is Bangkok, BITEC is strategically located on the first stage expressway system and has easy access to the pioneering BTS Skytrain network; connecting all major hotels with business, shopping and entertainment centres. Situated just 14km from the new Bangkok International Airport and just 8km from the port of Bangkok, ensures the fast and reliable movement of exhibits to and from the centre. Aspirations for 2008 In 2006 exhibition space completely sold out, so 2008 will see the show floor being expanded to accommodate growing international demand from energy companies wanting to showcase their capabilities in exploration and production, processing, storage and transportation. We will be giving you a larger platform to promote your business by making substantial investments in quality event features specifically designed to attract and retain unprecedented numbers of international buyers and decision makers at the very highest level. ■ The Gastech Conference – The Call for Papers campaign in 2006 saw over 250 abstracts submitted. The Programme Advisory Committee had the task to pare that down by half and the result was another outstanding conference programme attracting more delegates than at any other Gastech since its inception. ■ The IT Zone – This area will allow visitors access to the leading information technology providers in the industry and free entry to a series of small technical workshops. ■ Student programme – The shortage of young people coming into the business is a very real problem. So by working with key companies, top students from around the world will be funded to attend Gastech on a special programme called ‘Fuelling the Future’. ■ The Gastech Open Golf Tournament – Beat your competitors once and for all at this informal opportunity to interact with the industry. The event concludes with a prize giving BBQ and entertainment. ■ Poster Sessions – Speciality technical papers presented free of charge to exhibition attendees. ■ Technical Tours – A guaranteed sell out, technical tours provide a marvellous opportunity for attendees to visit key facilities and meet those actively involved in a variety of projects. ■ EnergyTV Live – Keynote speeches, interviews, important project announcements and market prices will be streamed into guest hotel rooms each evening and broadcast during the event on large video walls. www.gastv.tv ■ Partner Programme – Whether you opt to arrive early in Bangkok, spend time post-Gastech exploring its attractions, or if your partner wonders what to do whilst you are at the event, we have tours and excursions in plenty to allow you to enjoy the city to the full. ■ Meeting Facilities – not only will the venue meeting facilities allow companies to hire private meeting rooms at the event, but the online networking facility will enable you to arrange meetings beforehand, whilst the exhibition floor will host a relaxed meeting area and cyber lounge for those wanting to catch up with friends or hold informal business meetings. ■ Social functions – The PTT Gala Dinner and the Official Exhibitor and Delegate Party are permanent fixtures held to celebrate the success of the event and provide exhibitors an opportunity to meet delegates, speakers and members of the press.
