Two children start college
Nepal's new school year begins in midApril. This term two children – Anjali
Thapa Magar and Kalpana Chaudhar
– completed their School Leaving
Certificate (SLC) exam or Grade 10.
After finishing their exams they had a
3-month break during which time we
arranged for them to complete a sixweek computer course at the Don
Bosco Institute. They have now
successfully finished the course which
has provided them with good basic computer skills including preparing documents,
maintaining excel spreadsheets, using the internet and email.
Both successfully completed their SLC exam with top marks; Kalpana Chaudhary with
68% and Anjali Thapa Magar with 74%. After their SLC Kalpana would like to study
Humanities and Anjali would like to study Commerce. After looking at several options
we admitted them both to suitable colleges where they will study for a further two years.
Once they have finished they will go on to study for a Bachelors. Currently they are
happily receiving the education they love. MySmallHelp, Nepal is very happy with both
of them and their achievements.
Sharmila leaves Marybert Orphanage
This term Sharmila Sunuwar
left the orphanage and went
to stay with her aunt to help
her out. We called Sharmila
and her aunt to the office to
inform them of the books
provided to Sharmila from
Room to Read. According to
her wish, we admitted her to
a different school. Her aunt
visits every month to collect
her sponsorship money.

All children are upgraded
All the children that are being sponsored by MSH, Nepal have gone up a grade with the
start of their new school session.
Nabin Balami celebrates his birthday for the first time
Nabin recently celebrated his 14th birthday by a cutting cake for the first time in his life
along with his mother, sister and friends. Nabin and his mother's eyes were filled with
tears of happiness. We’d like to thank everyone, including all the sponsors, who make
these small moments in life so memorable.
His mother was also very pleased to have received a gas stove, which had been kindly
donated by their sponsor. The gas cylinder which was installed five months ago is still
running and this has saved them a lot of money on buying kerosene oil for cooking.

Hanna receives a new dress and Marybert Orphanage children receive a
nutritious diet every week
Hanna, a smart and very talented girl, sadly has no family in this world. To her, having a
sponsor is like having a parent. Her sponsor managed to raise some funds during his
wedding ceremony. Part of the fund has been used to buy Hannah some new dresses
and shoes, and during her shopping trip she enjoyed her first experience of riding a
motorbike. Her eyes filled with tears of joy and love for her sponsor. The remainder of
the funds are currently being used to buy weekly supplies of nutritious foods like
seasonal fruits, fruit juice, cookies for all the children in the Marybert Orphanage. All the
children send their thanks to the sponsor.

Supriya is bought a new dress thanks to a donation made by her sponsor
This July, Supriya's sponsor wanted to surprise her with a trip to the shops to buy any
items she needs, including dress materials and stationery. With this plan in mind we
called Supriya to the MSH office and took her to the shops in order to pick out some
items. She bought three sets of clothes including t-shirts, trousers, blouses, a dress, a
pair of shoes, a watch and a purse. She looked as pretty as a picture in her new dress.

Sunita Majhi gets an opportunity to study again
Sunita is a very sweet, honest and loving child
whom MySmallHelp supported from 2007 to 2011.
During her stay in the orphanage, she became one
of her school’s brightest students, often coming top
of her class and winning a number of medals.
However last year she was removed from the
orphanage by her uncle and taken to live with her
mother who is disabled and wheel-chair bound. The
bitter truth is that Sunita is a product of rape.
MySmallHelp tried repeatedly to locate Sunita until
finally, after 1 year 3 months, she contacted us via
facebook and we went to meet her. She is now 15
years old and to our surprise, she is no longer
attending school. Due to the family’s lack of income
Sunita was forced to leave school and stay at home
in order to cook, wash and look after her mother.
We were deeply saddened by Sunita’s desperate situation; she loves to study and
wants to continue, but needs help to do so. Although the school year began 3 months
ago, one of the schools
finally agreed to take her
in. We admitted her to
the school, ordered her
school dress for tailoring,
and bought her books,
pens and school shoes.
She is now in Grade 8 at
Baba Batika Madhyamik
Vidhyalaya and looks
forward to continuing at
her new school with
renewed hope for the
future.

Two projects on the way
1. A small grocery and vegetable shop for Anjali's mother Jamuna
2. Driving-skills training for Rasna's father Govinda
1. A small grocery and vegetable shop for Anjali's mother Jamuna
Jamuna, the mother of Anjali and Alisha, has been working in a carpet factory for the
past 14 years earning just enough for the family to eat. Living in a small hut with little
prospect of improving their lifestyle through her current employment, MSH Nepal
discussed alternative work options with Jamuna.
Jamuna came up with the idea of opening a small grocery and vegetable shop. To help
with the start-up, MSH provided funding for furniture, grocery items, vegetables and rent
for first six months. Anjali has college in the morning till 10.45am and helps out in the
shop in the afternoon. This allows her mother to take time out in the afternoon to weave
carpets. Anjali does her college work in the shop.
Anjali and Alisha have been sponsored by MSH for the past five years. Anjali has
finished her Grade 10 School Leaving Certificate (SLC) and now attends college. She
has taken Commerce as her main subject and would one day like to work in an
organization as an accountant.
This project has given renewed hope for the family. We want to continue with this
project and help them to succeed.

2. Driving-skills training for Rashna's father Govinda
Rashna's father Govinda is a victim of HIV and is worried about the future for his wife
and daughter. Without a good education and professional skills, the family situation is
very bad. To improve their situation Govinda decided he wanted to learn to drive to
support his family. He has many friends working in the driving field who will help him to
secure a job once he completes the training and becomes skilled. MSH decided to
support him so he can become self-sufficient in the future.
Visitors and Clothes donors
Jorge and Vane Lozano
On the afternoon of 13 May 2012, two kind hearted volunteers, Jorge and Vane Lozano
from Miami, United States visited MySmallHelp, Nepal to donate some beautiful dresses
to the children. They brought with them three bags full of cloths for children, medical
stuffs, dolls, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shoes, socks and clothes. Anjali and Alisha, two
children being supported by MSH, Nepal, were handed the clothes and other gifts by

the volunteers. They were very happy and thankful; their mother was also very grateful
for the support.
We all visited Marybert Orphanage to distribute the clothes and gifts to everyone .The
children were very thankful to Jorge and Vane for all their support and celebrated with
much singing and dancing. Jorge and Vane danced along with the children and
thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They were both very happy to see the smiles on the
children’s faces and expressed their desire to come back in November with their
musician friends to organize a musical concert at the orphanage.
MSH, Nepal would like to thank Jorge, Vane and the entire team who provided
donations for their kind support.
