On October 26th, almost 600 fans, community and business leaders, volunteers, coaches,
alumni and athletes will gather at the Kentucky Center for the Arts to witness the
inductionceremonyofthe5thAnnualLouisvilleCatholicSportsHallofFame.
WhilethereareseveralHallofFamesinKentucky,thisHallofFamerepresentstheformal
recognitionoftheoutstandingcontributionsofindividualswhohaveexcelledinathletics
at the highest level and who owe a significant amount of their success to their Catholic
educationand/orfaith.
Whiletheeventwillbeaneveningtohonorathletesandcoachesthathaveexcelledinthe
past,itwillalsocelebratethecontinuingCatholicformationofCatholicschoolsandtheir
impactontheformationofourcommunity’scurrentandfuturestudentathletes.Thenonprofit promotional partner of the evening is the CSAA (Catholic School Athletic
Association),andtheevening’stheme,“Itallstartshere,”willserveasareminderofthe
incredible work that thousands of volunteers perform each year to insure that Catholic
sportswillcontinuetoserveasadominantforcenotonlyonthefield,butintheformation
ofourfutureparents,coaches,communities,andbusinessleaders.
Former inductees have included Paul Hornung, Howard Schnellenberger, Mary T.
Meagher, San Francisco 49ers great Bubba Paris, Coach Mike Glaser, the Brohm and
Musselmanfamiliesandmanymore.
Weinviteyoutotakealookathowyouand/oryourbusinesscanpartakeinthishistoric
event and one that has become one of the community’s highest profile athletic
celebrationsinLouisville.

consecutive state championships (’03, ’04, ’05) and ranked among the all-time
leadersinschoolhistoryforcareerpoints.Shewentontoplaycollegiatebasketball

* CHRIS BURKE – Standout baseball player at St. X and then at the University of
TennesseewherehewastheunanimouschoiceforPlayeroftheYearintheSEC.He
wastheHoustonAstros’No.1pickinthe2001draft.
* KAY WHELAN – Has served more than four decades of work with Louisville
CatholicSchoolsandtheCSAA.
*OTTOKNOP,SR.–St.XgraduatewhowasamongstthefirstUofLalumspostedin
theRingofHonor.
*RICHROSTEL–LegendaryteacherandcoachatTrinitywhocoachedbaseballfor
22yearsandcrosscountryfor31yearsofhis33yearsasateacher.
* SCOTT WIEGANDT – 11-year career as the Director of Athletics for Bellarmine.
