For more information: www.uaejjf.org 1 JIU-JITSU IN THE UAE The remarkable rise of Jiu- Jitsu in UAE, in terms of quantum and quality, is credited to the UAE’s visionary leadership and its keen interest and support lend to various sports, aiming to advance the country’s sports scene and raising the UAE’s sport status in international forums. The sport was first introduced to the UAE in the late 1990’s by H. H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the spiritual father of this sport in UAE. He discovered Jiu-Jitsu whilst studying in the United States of America. With a passion for martial arts, Sheikh Tahnoon is well known throughout the grappling community as the founder of the NO GI Submission Olympics. Moreover, he is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt accredited athlete by Renzo Gracie. Upon returning to the UAE, H.H. immediately went about creating a combat center to provide people with the opportunity to study and learn more about martial arts. It was named the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC). Following on from this, H.H. General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, also became interested in the sport. This had a big impact on the sport’s development in the UAE. It was his vision and involvement that led to the creation of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu School programme and the first international tournament in the region; the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship that took place in 2009. The Championship effectively contributed to spreading the sport in many countries around the world. The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation is proud to be hosting the 6th anniversary of the tournament this year, and for the first time after gaining its official name (UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation) by ministerial order number 162 for year 2012. 2 LOCATION The new home of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation is located at the FGB Arena, Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi as per the below map. i uba <D < Abu Dhabi aeed Al M a ktou mS t (2 Hilton n Ai Al > The Dome nd S Al Bustan Complex t) St 11th 21s Carrefour Bi n S VIP Entrance Main Entrance t St as hi d 19 th St 17th St 15th St S hei kh R i hab Abu D KFC Old Airport Park rt rpo ) Rd 35th St 4 th S St Ice R ink ( Ai 5 th Al Noor Hospital Health Point - d in R Al A t Sheikh Zayed Mosque Gate No. 12 B owling Center Zayed Sports City Stadium Tennis Stadium Rihan s Rd Height Public Parking Ministry of Public Works Gate No. 19 VIP Parking Al Khaleej Al Arabi St (30th St) Sweihan / Al Hiyar > FGB Arena, off Al Khaleej Al Arabi St., Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates fgbarena.com GPS Coordinates: 24.413312, 54.453413 / +24° 24’ 47.92”, +54° 27’ 12.29” 3 BELT/WEIGHT CATEGORIES/PRIZE MONEY The following weight/belt categories will be included in this Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2014 and competitions held under the auspices of the United Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF): COMPETING BELTS WHITE BLUE PURPLE BROWN BLACK WEIGHT CATEGORIES ADULTS/MALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS: BELTS WHITE KG 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BLUE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight PURPLE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BROWN 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BLACK 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight ADULTS/FEMALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS: BELTS KG WHITE 60 66 72 72+ Open Weight BLUE 60 66 72 72+ Open Weight PURPLE 60 66 72 72+ Open Weight BROWN/BLACK 60 66 72 72+ Open Weight MASTER 1/MALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS (30 TO 35 YEARS OLD) BELTS WHITE KG 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BLUE/PURPLE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BROWN/BLACK 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight MASTER 2/ MALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS (36 TO 40 YEARS OLD) BELTS KG WHITE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BLUE/PURPLE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BROWN/BLACK 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight 4 MASTER 3/ MALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS (41 TO 45 YEARS OLD) BELTS KG WHITE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BLUE/PURPLE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BROWN/BLACK 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight 94 100 100+ Open Weight MASTER 4/ MALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS (46+ YEARS OLD) BELTS KG WHITE 64 70 76 82 88 BLUE/PURPLE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight BROWN/BLACK 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight PRIZE MONEY BREAKDOWN ADULTS/MALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS: BELTS Prize per Belt/Weight KG 1st 2nd 3rd $0 WHITE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight $0 $0 BLUE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight $3,000 $1,500 $0 PURPLE 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight $5,000 $2,000 $500 BROWN 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ Open Weight $6,000 $2,500 $1,000 BLACK 64 70 76 82 88 94 100 100+ - $8,000 $3,000 $1,500 Open Weight $30,000 $3,000 $1,500 BLACK - ADULTS/FEMALES WEIGHT DIVISIONS: BELTS Prize per Belt/Weight KG 1st 2nd 3rd $0 $0 WHITE 60 66 72 72+ - - - Open Weight $0 BLUE 60 66 72 72+ - - - Open Weight $2,000 $900 $0 PURPLE 60 66 72 72+ - - - Open Weight $3,000 $1,500 $500 BROWN/BLACK 60 66 72 72+ - - - - $6,000 $2,500 $1,000 Open Weight $10,000 $2,500 $1,000 BROWN/BLACK 5 ACCREDITATION BADGE Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-jitsu Championship 2014 Upon check-in on the day of your fight, you will be presented with your player accreditation badge.
