Let us know you worshipped at Wesley Church this morning by completing the
communication/attendance registration card which was handed to you when you entered the
sanctuary. If you have recently moved or changed telephone numbers, be sure to indicate that
information. New residents and visitors: please provide as much of the contact information as
possible.
Each week on the reverse side of the communication card, you will find a list of opportunities
in which you can become involved at Wesley Church. This week’s card includes several for you to
consider. These are only for your consideration; you are not obligated to check any of these boxes.
Completed cards should be deposited in the baskets located near each entrance — or placed in the
offering plate.
Thank you for letting us know you worshipped at Wesley today.

A PRAYER FOR LABOR DAY
O God, You have bound us together in this life.
Give us grace to understand how our lives depend
on the courage, the industry, the honesty,
and the integrity of all who labor.
May we be mindful of their needs, grateful for their faithfulness,
and faithful in our responsibilities to them;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Psalm 139, Philemon, Luke 14)
God of our lives, You search us and know us.
We have refused to take up Your cross, to bear the burdens that are ours to carry.
We have not given up our attachments to possessions or to self.
We have not counted the cost of walking into an unknown future with you.
Help us turn away from evil, that we may walk with You once more.
THE WORDS OF ASSURANCE
The Holy One rejoices in our repentance, reshaping us into vessels of love and service.
In the grace-filled love of Christ, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

Students are getting ready
to head back to institutions of
higher learning, and some
have joined the military or are
continuing their service to our
country. Wesley Church stays in touch with these
young adults by assigning “secret pals” to all those who
wish to have one. If you or any members of your family are
heading to college or the military, please see that the church
office receives your up-to-date information. Complete this
form, drop it in the Sunday offering plate, or mail it to the

As summer quickly comes to an end,
it gives us pause to think that The
Bloomsburg Fair will be upon us
before we know it. Wesley’s Mission
Team is again organizing a clothing
and bedding collection for Bloomsburg
Fair carnival workers. Below is a list
of requested donations to benefit
the workers. Remember that the fair
workers live in rough quarters with
little space for storage. They work outside in
all sorts of weather; access to expensive dry
cleaning facilities is not possible. With this in
mind, please do not donate dress clothing.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter,
and also we thank you for your time and effort
in making this mission a success.
Items being collected:
 new or clean used washable blankets or
sleeping bags
 new pillows with pillowcase

Secret pals are friends from Wesley who
secretly send letters, cards, and notes of
encouragement to those in college and other
institutions of higher learning, as well as to those in the
military. This is a great outreach to the young adults of
Wesley Church. Would you like to be a part of this
important ministry? Sign-up to be a secret pal by
completing this form, or contact Secret Pal coordinators,
Jane and Brian Bercher (570.784.2601 or [email protected]).
