Pediatric Cancer Foundation
As we complete our 20th Walkathon, we continue to work toward our
mission to cure childhood cancer. Pediatric Cancer Foundation
funds research and provides seed money to finance new protocols and
treatments for diseases that were once unbeatable. Dollars raised also
go to fund patient-parent support programs. Therapies for cancer
patients are perpetually evolving and much has been done... but there is
still more work to do.
For over 40 years Pediatric Cancer Foundation has been committed
to these goals. Over the past years we’ve worked diligently to recruit
new friends so we can support the efforts of our doctors and their
programs at the following hospitals:

Originated in Westchester in 1970, Pediatric Cancer Foundation now
has chapters located in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Various fund raising
events, in addition to the annual Walkathon, are planned throughout the
year. They include annual Luncheons, Journals, Dinners, Bake Sales,
Bikeathons, and Sportathons. Our supporters continue to create their
own special projects to benefit Pediatric Cancer Foundation and we
are always welcome to new ideas in that effort.
Only a small percentage of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation budget
goes to administrative costs. We are very proud of the fact that since
1970, nearly 90% of the total amount of money raised has gone directly
to the pediatric projects we fund at the hospitals we support.

Dear Friends,
We thank all of you for participating in our 20th Annual Walkathon. What
began as a walk with a purpose two decades ago has evolved into a crowning
achievement for Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
We are so proud of Walkathon founders and Co-Chairs, Lois Baskin and Jodi
Posner. With the help of the Manhattan Chapter in producing this event,
Lois and Jodi are responsible for raising approximately four million dollars for
PCF. This is an extraordinary accomplishment for which we are forever grateful.
Once again, we would like to thank WABC-TV Chief Meteorologist, Lee
Goldberg, for his continued loyalty and support. Our thanks also go to
Nancy Joselson, our Administrative Director, Brenda Wilkin, our Development
Director, and Natalie Sambamurty, our Financial Manager. Thanks as well to
Jayne Maslanky of Party Around for our signature balloon arch, which adds
such a festive tone as we walk towards fulfilling our mission to eradicate
pediatric cancer, as well as to all of our generous product sponsors for their
contributions to the Walkathon.
Each hospital that we support has representation at the Walkathon, along with
teams of walkers. Many of our teams consist of children, who walk to raise the
funds that go directly to the doctors at the hospital that we support. It is due
to the tireless efforts of these doctors and the research programs they pursue
that many inroads have been made in helping children in their battle with
cancer.
Every person who walks with us empowers Pediatric Cancer Foundation to
succeed in our efforts. For that, we must again acknowledge Lois and Jodi,
two shining stars of our organization. Thanks to them and to all of you for
sharing our commitment to bring renewed hope to children and their families,
as together we…..hold the hand of a child.

Dear Friends:
What a remarkable milestone we reached this year as we celebrated 20
Years of Walking together to eradicate childhood cancer. It has been an
honor to serve as your Co-Chairs and to watch our event grow from 100
walkers to close to 1,000 walkers. Every year it has been so rewarding
to see our long-time supporters, and meet new friends. We are truly
grateful to everyone for partnering with Pediatric Cancer Foundation as
we Give Hope and Walk as a team in the fight against childhood cancer. We thank our Walkathon Host, WABC-TV Eyewitness News Meteorologist
Lee Goldberg, for his commitment and continued loyalty to our
organization, and for always bringing sunshine to the children and
families we support. We thank our Walkathon Committee and the junior
members who were infants when the Walk started and now as young
adults, are part of our volunteer staff. We thank all of our corporate and

come together every year as a special and close community to create an
exciting and family fun-filled day.
