Commanding Officer, the Veteran Mentors become Fire Team Leaders, the Court
Team becomes the Company Staff, and the Veteran Defendants become the

 The Veterans Treatment Court is the initiative and

dedication of the management team of Judge
Albert Corbett Jr., Clerk of Superior Court Marsha
Johnson and DA Vernon Stewart.
 Pilot program established through a Grant by
Governors Crime Commission
 Provides a means to divert Veterans from
traditional criminal justice system and provides
support they need to lead productive and law
abiding lives through referrals for treatment,
education and vocational programs, and
community resources, all while being judicially
To respond collaboratively to promote public
safety and reduce recidivism in a cost-effective
way by providing veteran offenders with intensive
court supervision and a comprehensive Veterans
Administration driven treatment program resulting
in a productive and law abiding life .

(30% for Vietnam Veterans)
 Suicide rates among Veterans have significantly increased

 Less than 1% of our population has gone to war

 Best trained, equipped, educated volunteer fighting force in
