The Veterans Treatment Court is the military unit: the Judge becomes the Commanding Officer, the Veteran Mentors become Fire Team Leaders, the Court Team becomes the Company Staff, and the Veteran Defendants become the Troops. Pilot program established through a Grant by Governors Crime Commission Provides a means to divert Veterans from traditional criminal justice system and provides support they need to lead productive and law abiding lives through referrals for treatment, education and vocational programs, and community resources, all while being judicially To respond collaboratively to promote public safety and reduce recidivism in a cost-effective way by providing veteran offenders with intensive court supervision and a comprehensive Veterans Administration driven treatment program resulting in a productive
