Dear Chief Fields:
I appreciate very much the hospitality
extended to me by your
department last week in conjunction with the IACP Advisory Committee
meeting.
Although I regrettably was not able to participate
in all of
the related events, I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of your investigative
operations headquarters
and the Louisiana luncheon feast.
Please thank all who were involved in that effort.
The Sheriff
was also most gracious to take time out of his busy schedule to visit
with us at the meeting.
If we can ever be of assistance
to you, please
do not hesitate
to
call.
Sincerely,

Dear Joe:
We got home safely yesterday.
It was good to see the
mountains, and First Class was the place to ride on the plane.
We're still not sure why we were there, but it wouldn't surprise me
if you had something to do with it.
I have written Sheriff Lee and Deputy Chief Fields to tell
them how much we appreciated your help and attitude.
You truly
made our trip unforgettable, and I have never been treated so well.
I'm sorry we messed with your schedule so much, but it was sure
good to have your insight and presence with us.
It was also good
to meet Michele.
I hope that you come to visit us, so we can show you the
mountains.
One of my Captains who has a quarter horse set up and
does roping, is coming to New Orleans for a visit, and I'm going to
put him in touch with you.
I hope you don't mind, and I thought
you might want another horse contact.
When I told him about you,
he told me to tell you to come on up--that he would like to take
you riding in the mountains.
Anyway, my friend, please let me know if there's anything I
can do for you. You guys have a lot to be proud of, and it showed.
Also, please tell Keith thanks for all he did.

Dear Gene:
My wife and I got back yesterday from several wonderful days
in your Parish and I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know
how much we appreciated all you, Sheriff Lee, and your personnel
did for us while we visited.
I have never been treated so well by
any department, and I've been a police officer for 18 years.
Our entire stay was enjoya~le and unforgettable.
The food was
delicious, and the company was great.
I can't remember the last
time I enjoyed myself so much. We were particularlYI,impressed with
Det. Joe Istre, who went out of his way to make us comfortable, and
with Det. Conley, who drove us to the airport and to several other
places.
You have a great deal to be proud of, and your people speak
highly of you and your agency.
It's no wonder.
Thanks, Gene for
an excellent week.
I hope that you will come to Loveland, and let
me try and return at least part of the favors.
We really
enjoyed
it.
Sincerely,

I wish to personally thank you and Bear for the kindness and
courtesy shown to the students who came to our court on December
12, 1991. To instill in growing children respect and appreciation
for law enforcement is a wonderful thing which benefits society as
well as the children themselves.
Your discussion with the children
was a very positive influence.
You are a very warm and sincere
