However, over the last several weeks here at Lynch Park, we have had beautiful weather and the folks from the Department of Public Services have restored Lynch Park to its status of “Jewel of the North Shore!” It is amazing how hard they work every year to make all of our parks so beautiful. We are very lucky to have them and I would like to thank them very much for their hard work and dedication to our city. There are many more exciting changes happening at the Recreation Department. The new playground at Lyons Park/ Dane Street Beach will be installed at the end of May and will become a great destination for all Beverly families, with beautiful play structures and climbing components. Thank you very much to Josie Marino and the Friends of Dane Street Playground for their passion for this project and their dedication to creating a special place on the waterfront. >Archery16 >Body Sculpturing16 >Boot Camp (Group Fitness Class) 17 >Free Fitness in the Park 17 16 >Power Yoga @ Lynch Park >Soul Stroll16 Through the generosity of the Community Preservation Committee and CPA funding, the Dane Street project and several others will continue to enhance many of our parks. A new picnic pavilion at Obear Park in Ryal Side and new tennis courts at Kimball-Haskell Park in the Cove, along with new ADA accessible walkways at Dane Street Beach and Lynch Park, are in progress. Thank you to the citizens of Beverly and the CPC for supporting these great projects. YOUTH PROGRAMS Many of these projects are also funded with generous grants from the David S. Lynch Trustees, private donations, along with support from Mayor Cahill and the City Council. >Afternoon Playground Program 5 >Archery5 >Baseball Pitching Clinic 7 >Change is Simple Summer Programs 6 >Football Clinic7 >Free Summer Food Programs 11 >Kayak & Paddleboard Programs 5 & 29 >Playground Program9 >Special Event Days 12 & 13 >Summer Camp8 >Tennis4 >Tom Donovan’s Basketball Clinic 7 >Wicked Cool for Kids Programs 6 SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS >Sponsors are Featured on Pages 18-27 & 44 FORMS >Adult Registration Forms 15 & 39 >Playground Program Form 10 >Summer Camp Form 37 >Youth Registration Form 14 & 36 2 The Carriage House at Lynch Park is still available for rentals for receptions, meetings, reunions, functions and other events. The much anticipated French doors and windows have been installed in the main event room and look fabulous, providing tremendous views. Our goal is to continue improving the building so it will serve as a community cultural center for Beverly for years to come. As I head into my 14th summer as Recreation Director, I would like to thank all Beverly citizens and our dedicated staff for your continued support, generosity and help. I would also like to recognize Recreation Commission member Kevin Hobin for his work on the old, wooden benches at Lynch Park, restoring them to their original beauty and adding years of life. I would also like to thank Charlie Mack for organizing his Camp Slam basketball tournament to raise money for scholarships to Beverly Recreation and YMCA camp programs. Because of Charlie’s hard work, several children will be able to enjoy summer camps this summer. We are always looking to enhance our parks, playgrounds, fields and programs. Your feedback is welcome and appreciated. We wish everyone a fun, safe and happy summer. Carry In/Carry Out asks citizens to be responsible for their own refuse. It will reduce litter and result in a cost savings to the city. It prompts park-goers to use eco-friendly materials, re-directs Department of Public Services resources to more vital areas and projects, and empowers the community by channeling people’s willingness to participate in maintaining a clean environment. Please bring your own trash bags and recycle at home. A limited number of bags will be available at the gate. A successful Carry In/Carry Out program at Lynch Park is another reason to be proud of this great city. We appreciate your cooperation. Storm sewers do not go to the SESD treatment plant. Instead most storm sewers drain into streams, lakes or along the coast carrying many pollutants along with storm water. LINDSAY PARK, INDEPENDENCE PARK, BEVERLY COMMON, DIX PARK, COLGATE PARK & COONEY FIELD When pet waste is disposed of improperly, your health may be at risk, too. Pets, children who play outside, and adults who garden are most at risk for infections from some of the bacteria and parasites found in pet waste. Flies may also spread diseases from animal's waste. Year Round - On-leash dogs are allowed in the parks from 6:00AM-10:00PM Beverly’s dog population is estimated at 4000 and using that statistic as a baseline, it would suggest a “solid waste” of about 1600 pounds every day. PLEASE NOTE: Independence Park – Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 8:00AM to 7:30PM Cooney Field – Dogs are only allowed beyond outfield fence of baseball field Pet waste may not be the largest or most toxic pollutant in urban waterways, but it is one of the many little sources of pollutants that add up to a big problem for water quality. Fortunately, there are simple things we can do to keep water clean. ALL OTHER BEVERLY PARKS Memorial Day to Labor Day - Dogs are not allowed in any public park from 8:00AM to 7:30PM - Dogs are only allowed in the parks from 6:00AM to 8:00AM and from 7:30PM to 10:00PM Labor Day to Memorial Day - On-leash dogs are allowed in the park from 6:00AM to 10:00PM PLEASE NOTE: On-leash dogs are allowed to use all Beverly parks during the above hours but are not allowed on any ball fields or in any playground areas, sand boxes or garden areas at any time. Cleaning up after your pet can be as simple as taking a plastic bag or pooper-scooper along on your next walk. What should you do with the waste you pick up? No solution is perfect, but here are the choices: Flush it down your toilet goes or private septic ants before the the toilet– The water from to the SESD treatment plant system that removes pollutwater reaches a water body. Bury it in the yard– Dig a hole or trench that is about 5 inches deep, away from vegetable gardens, and away from water bodies – lakes, streams, wells, oceans, or ditches with water. Throw it in the trash– This may be easy, but it is not the best solution. After collection, the waste is taken to an incinerator that can cause pollution problems. Another option is to install an underground pet waste digester that works like a small septic tank. 35 2016 YOUTH REGISTRATION FORM (PLEASE PRINT-ONE FORM/PERSON) Name:_______________________________________________________________________ Gender: F ( ) M ( ) Address:__________________________________________ City:________________State:_________ Zip:__________ Email:_________________________________ Age:_________ DOB:____________ Grade in Sept. 2016:__________ Guardian #1:_____________________________________Phone #s:________________________________________ Guardian #2:_____________________________________Phone #s:________________________________________ Emergency Contact:______________________________ Phone #s:________________________________________ Medical Insurance Co.
