Active Mail gears up for active ‘CRM’
future with Fuji Xerox Technology

“The heartbeat of our business is our Active Mail Business Database,”
explains Active Mail managing director, John Stark. “This enables us to
provide our customers with accurate, personalised contact and commercial
activity data for over 150,000 of Sydney’s largest and leading businesses.”
Couple this business database with the facility for Active Mail
customers to access this data online through ActiveList, the
company’s advanced, web-enabled, mailing list/campaign
management CRM application, and it is easy to see how
Active Mail can offer cost-effective, targeted mailing or telemarketing opportunities to customers anywhere in Australia.
“As the potential of this data begins to be realised, we are
seeing a huge growth in rapid response, personalised,
variable-data mailing piece production and this is where our
association with Fuji Xerox is about to be elevated to new
heights,” continues Stark.
“A Fuji Xerox customer for over 15 years, we have seen
steady growth in production volumes, particularly in
relation to short-run offset replacement work. In fact, a
large proportion of the work we turn out is done on A3
80-90gsm copy paper for the production of static and
variable data ancillary mailing pieces, such as flysheets
and fax-back sheets, as well as a substantial volume of A4
letterhead overprinting.”
“XMPie’s PersonalEffect essentially works in three steps,
following the agency workflow – planning, creation and output
– so that we can help our customers affect substantial
savings in cost, turnaround times and correction cycles.”
This software comprises three seamless modular
components – uPlan, uCreate and uProduce – to enable
creative professionals to produce integrated, content-rich,
cross-media campaigns tailored to suit individual needs
and interests. One database and one plan drive the entire
campaign across multiple media channels.
“The other advantage of PersonalEffect is that it is webenabled so we can link it in with the continued development
of ActiveList to offer true, remote campaign management at
an affordable price.”
“Our clients will present pre-printed material on a wide
variety of stock, ranging from poor quality copy stock to
heavier offset stock. This is why our Fuji Xerox investment
includes installation of the DocuTech Nuvera 100CP Digital
Copier Printer to help handle this type of work. Stock
variability, together with offset drying powder residue makes
the Nuvera’s vacuum feed essential for maintaining reliable
throughput rates.”
But Stark recognises that this is not necessarily the ‘bread
and butter’ work for Active Mail in the future. “The primary
focus of our recent investment revolves around an upgrade
in quality and productivity of our digital colour printing
capability, replacing the Xerox DocuColor 2060 model with
the faster and more versatile DocuColor 6060.”
The 3,600 A4 images an hour print speed of the Fuji Xerox
DocuColor 6060 already positions it as the fastest digital
colour press in its class, but when printing on heavyweight
stocks – the DocuColor 6060 can print on 64gsm
lightweight paper up to 300gsm board – its print speed is
as much as 50% faster than previous Fuji Xerox models.
Furthermore, it offers a resolution of 600 x 600 pixels per
inch with a full eight bits of colour depth per pixel for the
highest colour quality.
“But we believe that the true potential of the DocuColor 6060
lies in the XMPie PersonalEffect One-to-One Communications
Software that we have purchased to drive it,” adds Stark.
Turning to the future, Stark predicts: “There is no doubt that
the rapidly improving quality of CRM data held by businesses
will see a continued increase in one-to-one marketing
techniques that depend on increasingly personalised, high
quality, variable image colour printing to produce personally
relevant direct mail pieces in both the business and
consumer marketplaces.”
“With XMPie PersonalEffect and the added functionality
and quality parameters of our new Fuji Xerox DocuColor
6060, we are ideally positioned to help our customers take
advantage of this revolution as it happens.”
