Instructions
1. Cook the pasta according to package
instructions. Drain well.
2.In the meantime, spray a frying pan with half
the olive oil and heat. Add the eggplant and
chicken. Continue to stir fry until chicken
is almost cooked right through and the
eggplant is soft and browned. Remove from
pan and set aside.
3.Spray the same frying pan with the remaining
olive oil. Add the garlic, oregano and spring
onions and stir fry for no longer than 1
minute. Add the fresh tomatoes and cook for
1–2 minutes.
4.Add the stock and bring to the boil. Add
the chicken and eggplant mix and also the
sundried tomatoes. Cover, reduce heat and
cook for 5–6 minutes or until chicken is
cooked. Add the spinach leaves and cook for
no longer than 1 minute.
5.Combine the penne with the chicken mixture
and mix well. Serve with a sprinkling of
crumbled feta and season with pepper.

Victorian Government and delivered
in partnership with BreaCan and the
Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre
BCNA and Fernwood Fitness are partnering to improve
the health and wellbeing of women diagnosed with breast
cancer. This new partnership has presented BCNA with many
opportunities, one of which is Revitalise with BCNA, a six-week
online health and wellbeing program, commencing 19 October.
Leading breast cancer experts contributed to the development
of this program and focused on the topics that matter most
for women who’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. The
program features delicious weekly recipe ideas, workout plans
and practical tips to support women to address their mindset,
improve their physical and emotional wellbeing and practice
mindfulness and relaxation.
Women who have completed active (hospital based) treatment
are encouraged to sign up. Participants also receive a free
month’s membership at their local Fernwood Club.

Project Coordinator, Sports Focus
Played sport before and thinking about getting
back involved? Or, looking to get more active
but don’t know if club sport is for you?
If so, Sports Focus may be able to help!
Earlier this year, Sports Focus developed
a partnership with Breast Cancer Network
Australia through its involvement in the Active
and Well After Breast cancer pilot. This pilot
included an Active and Well information day
held in Bendigo.
This event highlighted that while women
were keen to return to the sport they once
played and loved, there was some hesitation in
returning. This got both organisations thinking
… perhaps there were other women out there
who were considering a return to the sport
they once played, or who were keen to get
involved in something completely new, but
didn’t know where to start. Talking to Sports
Focus may be that start!
The Sports Focus team knows sport is often
seen as being all about skill and competition,
but your reintroduction back in to sport doesn’t
have to be a competitive one. Sporting clubs
can also offer a range of social and noncompetitive participation opportunities too.
Maybe you want to play again but the thought
of having to commit to weekly training sessions
and games doesn’t sound appealing. If this is
you, that’s okay as there are many clubs that
can provide modified, flexible and fun options.
Or perhaps you would benefit from taking up a
volunteer role within a sporting club; coaching,
umpiring, scoring, first aid/sports trainer,
canteen, committee member … the list goes on
and sporting clubs are always looking for new
volunteers.
Sporting clubs offer more than just
opportunities to get active. They are a place
where people can go to interact with others in
a fun, supportive and social environment. They
also provide a great opportunity to connect
with your community and develop long lasting
friendships.
Your journey back into a sporting club can be
whatever you want it to be!
Sports Focus currently has contact with
approximately 820 community sporting
organisations across the Loddon Campaspe
region, so there’s sure to be something to
suit you.
Sports Focus is one of nine Regional Sports
Assemblies within Victoria. The organisation
works across the Loddon Campaspe region
which encompasses the six local government
authorities of Greater Bendigo, Loddon, Mount
Alexander, Macedon Ranges, Campaspe and
Central Goldfields.
If you’re ready to have a chat about engaging
in or returning to sport, Sports Focus is there
to help you find just what you are looking for.
Contact Laura Bradley on (03) 5442 3101 or
at [email protected], or if you would
like to find out more about Sports Focus, visit
www.sportsfocus.com.au.
Sports Focus works with the community sport
and recreation sector to provide a range of
inclusive participation opportunities and there
might just be one out there to suit you!
Don’t reside in the Loddon Campaspe region?
That’s okay, Sports Focus can put you in
contact with your local Regional Sports
Assembly or State Sporting Association.
