"Image Converter 3" can convert various video image file format into Memory Stick Video Format. "Image Converter 3 ver.3.0", "Image Converter 2 Plus" or "Image Converter 2" can be upgraded to "Image Converter 3 ver.3.1" for free. The upgrade is only for users of "Image Converter 3 ver.3.0", "Image Converter 2 Plus" or "Image Converter 2". For details, please refer to "Image Converter 3 ver.3.1.". * The compatible codecs for output files are MPEG-4 and AVC only. * "Image Converter 3" video conversion software is designed to operate on Windows PCs. Confirm that the PC you are using has the operating environment required by the application. * This application is not compatible with digital rights management (DRM) systems employed for digital television broadcasts. * The copyright protected file cannot be converted. Some non-copyright protected files may not be converted. * MPEG-4 is a codec which employed by lots of mobile devices. AVC is a new codec which delivers the enhanced video image quality even with low bit rate. * Compatible profile depends on device. For details, click here. * "Image Converter 2", "Image Converter 2 Plus" and "Image Converter 3" come preinstalled in some Sony VAIO computers. Even if your PC does not have a Memory Stick media slot, data can be transferred via a Memory Stick USB reader/writer (e.g. Sony MSACUS40). Also, you can transfer video image files through direct USB connection between a PC and the PSP™. When using Memory Stick Micro, please use an adaptor with Memory Stick Micro. Operating Systems * "Image Converter 3 ver.3.0" is software for Windows PCs. Please check the hardware requirements of this application and your PC specifications. * "Image Converter 3 ver.3.0" is supported the following operating systems which installed as a standard. - Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional SP4 or higher - Microsoft® Windows® XP Home/Professional SP1/SP2 - Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition (2004/2005) - Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Basic - Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium - Microsoft® Windows Vista® Ultimate - Microsoft® Windows Vista® Business * Windows Vista® 64 bit is not supported. * * *1 *2 *3 *4 *5 *6 *7 Product availability and specification may vary by market. Video files shot by HDVcam can be converted by "Image Converter 3 ver.3.1" after transferred to PC. AVI files that are not supported as standard by "Video for Windows" may not be used. It is not supported the files read from DVD videos. The operation of the files recorded in the Memory Stick Video format are only verified. The latest version of QuickTime Player is required to convert files in QuickTime format or M4V format and for use of some RSS channels. The latest version of Windows Media Player is required to convert files in WMV (Windows Media Video) format. DVR-MS format files are only supported in Windows® XP Media Center Edition / Windows Vista® Media Center. Only for VAIO. "Image Converter 3" cannot convert the digital broadcasting recording file. After installation "Image Converter 3 ver.3.0 ", please follow the procedure explained below. When you start "Image Converter 3 ver.3.0" for the first time, the Easy Setup Wizard is displayed and you can configure the sett ings on the appeared display for transferring video image files to Memory Stick. Please note that here explains the following OS: - Windows® XP If you have already configured the initial settings, go to Step 2. Select [Start] - [All Programs] - [Image Converter 3] - [Image Converter 3]. Tips You can also start the Easy Setup Wizard at [Locating the Video] screen by selecting [File] [Easy Setup Wizard]. Tips -Select [Other] when there is no compatible device. -When you click [Open Support Site], you can check the tips for settings of combinations between devices and codecs on the web site. For more details, click here Tips The information which you can confirm varies depending on the PC models. Here explains to prepare to transfer video image files recorded on your PC to Memory Stick. * When using Memory Stick Micro on Memory Stick Standard-size or Duo-size slot, please use an adaptor with Memory Stick Micro. Note -You can also transfer video image files through direct USB connection between a PC and the PSP™. -If a PC has only the standard sized Memory Stick media slot that is not supported Memory Stick, use the Memory Stick Duo Adaptor (e.g. Sony MSAC-M2). -Data may be damaged if you remove Memory Stick from the slot or turn off the power while the access indicator is flashing. -For WALKMAN®, please use USB cable to connect to PC. When connecting to PC via USB, WALKMAN® is recognized and the icon is shown at [transfer to] tab. Please select the type of video images recorded on your PC from the followings. (1) TV programs recorded on a PC (2) Videos downloaded from RSS channels (3) Video images stored on a PC Note Depending on the video file format, you may need to convert the files in the format that is supported by "Image Converter 3" first and then convert the files again with "Image Converter 3". Note You can set TV programs recorded on a PC to be added to the transferring list automatically. First, select [File] - [Settings] and follow the procedures explained below. To operate this setting, it is necessary to log in by the user account which has the administrator authority. Tips -If a PC is VAIO installed "Giga Pocket 5.0" or higher or "VAIO Zone" to record, [ ] or [ ] tab appears. -When you open the destination folder, you can also add the files to be transferred by dragging and dropping them on the transferring list. -The Auto conversion may burden your PC remarkably. In that case, please take the check mark off. To use RSS channels, click here Note When you download video files from RSS channels, it is necessary for your PC to be connected to the Internet. The video files downloaded from RSS channels can be added to the transferring list automatically. For more details, click here. The converted video image files are stored in a temporary folder. To set the temporary stored folder, first select [File]-[Settings] and, on the appeared setting display, select [Video]-[Temporary storage location]. Check the box [Do not delete the converted temporary files from the computer] to leave the converted files in a temporary storage. To transfer the converted video image files, first select [File]-[Converted File List], and then, on the appeared [Converted File List], follow the procedures explained below. Note When transferring video files exceed the capacity of Memory Stick or a transferring device, a warning message appears. Click [OK], and either exchange Memory Stick to one that has enough capacity or delete files in the transferring destination drive, and try again. Note This function cannot be used for PCs that are equipped with Windows® XP Media Center Edition / Windows Vista® Media Center. The video image files displayed in the transferring list can be transferred to Memory Stick Duo automatically. First, select [File]-[Settings] and then, on the appeared display, follow the procedures explained below. The video image files can be transferred automatically under the following conditions. -"Image Converter 3" is running. -There are video image files to be transferred in the destination list. -The destination devices must be ready to be transferred. -When you have not operated your PC longer than the time you set at the [Transfer start delay]. Tips The waiting time can be set between 0 and 30 minutes. Note To transfer the video image files which are not supported on the mobile devices, you can convert and transfer the only unsupported video format files automatically. First, select [File]-[Settings], and then, on the appeared display, follow the procedures explained below. This function is only used for the PSP™. (As of December, 2006) When files are transferred using this function, those thumbnails are not displayed. Tips To play back video image files on the PSP™, select [Convert only videos whose formats are not supported by the transfer destination]. below. A PC connected to the Internet to download information of the RSS sites. Note The compatible website browser is Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Tips When you click [Add], you can also add the RSS contents by entering a URL address of the RSS contents in the URL entry field of the appeared display. Tips You can select either to transfer one latest video file downloaded in the transferring list set at [Add to the To be Transferred list], or to transfer all the video files downloaded during the period of time set at [File]-[Setting]-[RSS]. To transfer downloaded video files of subscribed RSS channel to Memory Stick Duo, click here. Tips First, select [File]-[Settings], and then, on the appeared display, check the [Automatically check for updates] box to update subscribed RSS contents at regular time intervals. Also, when you check the [Add to the To be Transferred list after conversion] box, the downloaded video files are converted based on the settings and sent to the transferring list automatically (The Auto conversion function cannot be used for PCs that are equipped with Windows® XP Media Center Edition / Windows Vista® Media Center). PSP™ can check and select the video contents (items) that do not need to be converted automatically, and transfer them without converting. Note -When files are transferred using this function, those thumbnails are not displayed. -The Auto update and Auto conversion operate only when a PC is turned on. -The Auto conversion may burden your PC remarkably. In that case, please take the check mark off.
