here. Don’t forget to vote
for the Angels – we want
Trout and Pujols there again
and as many other Angels as
we can get. You can go use
the Angels or MLB websites. You can vote 5 times a
day for up to 35 votes.Voting ends on June 30, so get
started today!
The Red Cross BLOOD DRIVE will be held in a number of locations on June 11. Each blood donor has the
potential to save 3 lives and non-donating volunteers help
keep things running smoothly. Please consider doing
both if possible. See or contact Kim Edwards or Renee
Patterson to sign up to donate or volunteer. Donors
will receive a voucher for 2 tickets to Angels game!

JIM CAMPANIS JR.
Jim Campanis Jr., O.C. native, ballplayer,
grandson of player and General Manager
Al Campanis of the Dodgers, son of major
leaguer Jim Campanis, musician, and
author of recently released book ‘Born Into
Baseball: Laughter and Heartbreak at the
Edge of the Show’.
As previously announced, we won’t have a
membership table at home games this year. However,
the Board wants to remind all members that there
are plenty of other events where volunteers are
needed. We need cheerful, enthusiastic, dependable
people. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES are split
between established and new Booster members, and
new volunteer opportunities are based partially on
help received at previous events. So, even if you aren’t
needed to help at one event because of space limitations,
continue to sign up so we know you are willing to
volunteer. Also, sometimes the requesting charity asks
only for Board members or returning volunteers,
so we have to respect those requests. The Board is
working on a program to recognize those members
who volunteer and participate in charitable events,
after all, our motto is “Helping Others Through the
Love of Angels Baseball.
Gates Close at 7 p.m. on
Meeting Nights
This is to remind all attendees that the front gates
MUST close and be locked at 7 p.m. on meeting nights.
Unfortunately, even if you are in the parking lot, we
may not be able to make an exception. We have been
trying to be understanding, but recently, latecomers
have caused Stadium security personnel to express
concerns because they are delayed from their other
duties. The gates open at 6:30 p.m. for general
members to purchase raffle tickets, sign up for events,
and get food. Please plan accordingly. Our members
and speakers appreciate it.

A huge thank you to Brittany Shook, Matt
Holleman, Sandy Comer, Maria Kageyama,
Chris Mamrot, Evelina Nishizawa, Renee
Patterson, Lorraine Stubblefield, and our

Booster Club Facebook Protocol
Now that we are getting more members involved and posting on
• Be positive when discussing the Angels, the players, broadcasters
our Angels Booster Club Facebook page, the Board felt that we
should make everyone aware of the rules and protocol for using
it. Some Facebook participants are members of the Booster Club
while others are not, but it is good place to share Angels Baseball
experiences and news. We want to be sure that everyone has a
pleasant experience, so we are asking people to follow these
simple rules when posting:
• Be courteous to the readers; don’t criticize other people or the
Booster Club.
• Don’t use foul or inappropriate language; many youngsters view
our page
and management; we all have ups and downs in our lives and jobs,
so concentrate on the positive things.
• There is no selling on the Booster Club Facebook page.
• All content must be set to public since we are a public page.
• If there is a problem with the Booster Club Facebook page or
its participants, contact the Administrator or a member of the
Angels Booster Club.
The administrator may delete posts or comments if it is
determined that they don’t meet group standards because we
want every Angels Fan to have a fun and interactive experience!
All New Booster Bucks
Starting in June we will have our all new “BOOSTER BUCKS”.
The Booster Bucks will be handed out for volunteering at our
many charitable events. Each Booster Buck is worth one dollar
at the raffle table, food table or for any other Angel Booster
item purchased at the monthly Booster meetings by active
Booster members. They are not redeemable for cash and
cannot be used for any non-Booster item purchase.
So watch for the next volunteer opportunity so you can
start earning your Booster Bucks.

Baseball (and Football) Memories
Laura Young
At the May 2nd Booster meeting, our 1st V.P. Darvin Evink held
Jim Brown’s number 32 was retired by the Browns, he was
inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971, and has been
called the best football player of all time by Sporting News and
the NY Daily News – and I got to see him play in person!
ANGELS BASEBALL: After moving to California as adults, we
would go to Angels games with my dad and, after he passed away,
with my stepdad. There were many great times for us and our
daughter, Heather, over the years. One special time for me
happened when Heather was 11 years old. She and I went to see
the Angels play in 1984.We had seats in right field only 2 rows up
from the field. Reggie Jackson was playing right field and it was the
year he hit his 500th home run. The Angels won the game and
were trying to win the American League West [they came in 2nd].
After the game, the crowd went wild and stormed the field.
I helped Heather over the fence and she ran out to stand where
Reggie had stood. I wish I’d had a camera that night – what a
wonderful sight to see! Another memory was when, in 1986,
Heather, my husband Will, and I were sitting in the first row of
Club level seats above 3rd base when Rupert Jones hit a foul ball,
which hit Will on the forehead. He wasn’t hurt, but it was quite
startling. The ball fell to the ground and Heather picked it up.
We still have that ball and we’d like to get it signed by Rupert some
day. We laugh about how we were caught off-guard by how fast
the ball got into the crowd.
And, of course, there were the memories of when the Angels
won the World Series – but that is for another day. Where were
a trivia game which included baseball questions and sports
memories. That gave me the idea for this article – I have some
special sports memories that are always nice to recall. When
I was young, before we moved to California, my family lived in a
suburb of Cleveland so many of my early memories are of the
Browns and Indians.
INDIANS BASEBALL: My first memories of baseball were when
I was visiting my grandpa’s house. He would sit next to the radio in his
favorite chair, and listen to the Indians games. He would explain the
rules of baseball and answer my questions. Whenever I hear a
baseball game on the radio, I’m reminded of those times. Another
memory is when my mom took my sister and I to an Indians game at
Cleveland’s old Lakefront Stadium when I was about 10 years old.
We had hot dogs and popcorn, and I don’t remember who won the
game. What I do remember clearly was when my mom said at one
point about the count on the hitter,“3 and 2, what’ll he do?” I thought
that was so clever and for years I thought my mom had made it up
herself. 3-2 counts still remind me of her.
BROWNS FOOTBALL: One special moment was when my
dad took my sister and I to a Cleveland Browns game when I was
about 12 years old. I remember that we parked in a dirt lot and
walked through the snow to get to the game. Our seats were in
the upper section (at about the 20 yard line), it was cold and we
were bundled up. Of course, we had some hot chocolate. Then
we saw No. 32 Jim Brown run down the field for a touchdown.
We were jumping up and down with the rest of the crowd and
were so excited. This happened in Lakefront Stadium which was
demolished in 1996 to make way for the newer stadium.
you and what were you doing in 2002 when the Angels won
the World Series? Let me know by email or in person. We’d love
to include your experience in our article about that exciting day.

TRIPS & TICKETS
Maria Kageyama
Hello Boosters, as I am writing this the Angels are 6 ½ games
get the order in so I can get the tickets to you by the June 6 meeting.
Saturday July 30 is another 66ers game. They will be giving out a
Ken Griffey Jr. bobblehead. The tickets include the BBQ and you
are able to enter 90 min early. One booster will also throw
out the first pitch. Ticket order and money are due at the June 6
meeting. The 66ers fan appreciation day is on Sunday August 28.
They will have prizes and an autograph signing of a player to be
announced. I will have signups at the next meeting. Think about a
group of people going up to Seattle to watch the Angels beat the
Mariners on Friday 9/2/16 – Sunday 9/4/16. This is Labor Day
weekend so it might be hard to get flights but it would be fun to
see the Angels play them later in the season. We are going to
have another Trout Farm party on Saturday, October 1 at 7:05.
Suggestions for a theme are welcome. We want to rock the trout
farm especially at the start of Red October!
behind Seattle. We have 10 players on the disabled list but have
some good young players filling in. As Mike Trout says, his sixth
tool is the fans. We need to show our support in as many ways as
we can.
June 26 is the next 66ers game the boosters are going to. That
is Bernie’s birthday party and those of you who have bought your
tickets will receive them at the June 6 meeting. The All Star game
Fan Fest is coming up soon. At this time I’m still waiting to hear
from some people as to which day of the fan fest you want me to
get the tickets for. For a group of 25 or more, I can get the tickets
for $13 each, regular $20, $25 or $30. The dates are
Friday July 8 – Tuesday July 12. There’s also a time set as to when
you can enter. I will get the earliest times possible. Please call me
asap at 310-408-3923 or email me at [email protected] to let
me know how many tickets you want and for what day. I need to

Imaginology Fair at the OC Fairgrounds
Thanks to all of the Booster members that volunteered at the
Imaginology Fair for children again this year at the OC Fair
Grounds. Our baseball theme booth was a huge hit again this year.
We had 4 games that were free for all kids to play. Almost every
child walked away with a prize, no matter how well they threw the
ball. The lines never let up all three days. It was great seeing the kids
get so involved in playing ball. Hope to see you there next year.
Fiesta Angels at the Angel Stadium
What a fun day at the Fiesta Angel Day in May. There were so
many autograph opportunities. The Booster Booth used the same
games as were used at the Imaginology Fair. The Booth was
swamped all day. Everyone had a blast and people were flocking to
the booth for the opportunity to win an Angel sombrero. We had
a lot of interest in the Booster Cub membership as well.
