Starting Pitcher Luke Harrell recorded a win and quality start during his Rangers debut on July 31, just four days after being acquired from the Atlanta Braves. Mitch Moreland was named the American League Player of the Week on August 1, after hitting .455 with a 1.136 slugging percentage, 5 home runs, and 9 runs. He led the majors in homers and slugging, tied in RBIs and ranked second in batting average in the American League. Way to go, Mitch! Michael Young became the 20th member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame during a ceremony on July 30. Young was surrounded by alumni, family, former teammates, and current Rangers Baseball Hall of Famers during the ceremony in front of a sold out crowd. You can see video recaps of the ceremony at texasrangers.com. July also included the MLB All-Star Game in San Diego, California. Texas Rangers Outfielder Ian 1B | MITCH MORELAND RHP | LUCAS HARRELL Desmond and Pitcher Cole Hamels both made the trip out to San Diego for the 2016 All-Star Game. Cole pitched a scoreless 3rd inning, striking out Chicago Cubs Third Baseman Kris Bryant. August 1 was the MLB Trade Deadline and the Rangers made a few changes to their roster. Just a short time before the 3 PM cutoff, the Rangers acquired Outfielder Carlos Beltran from the New York Yankees in exchange for Minor League Pitchers, Dillon Tate, Nick Green, and Erik Swanson, and acquired Catcher Jonathan Lucroy and Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress from the Brewers for Minor League Outfielder Lewis Brinson, Pitcher Luiz Ortiz, and a player to be named later. Beltran has batted .304 with 22 home runs, 22 doubles, and 64 RBI in 99 games with the Yankees this season, and was selected as a 2016 All-Star.
