You don’t have to be Catholic to roar with laughter at the hilarious antics of the Little Sisters of Hoboken, New Jersey, as they stage a fundraising talent show on the set of their students’ production of Grease. Presiding over the mayhem is Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Sally Struthers (All in the Family, Gilmore Girls) as the Reverend Mother. Come see for yourself why “Nunsense is habit forming!” The Royal Family of the Guitar The Romeros Student/Senior: $26 This celebrated family guitar dynasty, now made up of Celin, Pepe, Celino, and Lito returns to Citrus after an absence of over 25 years. A few fortunate musicians rise to the peak of a musical art form; a very few originate an art form. The Romeros have done both: four virtuosi on the same instrument in the same family is unique in the musical world. With countless performances world-wide, the New York Times says of them “Collectively, they are the only classical guitar quartet of real stature in the world today; in fact, they virtually invented the format.” “What the Three Tenors are to the world of opera, the Romeros are to the classical guitar.” – Joaquin Rodrigo, Spanish Composer www.romeroguitarquartet.com 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 at 8PM 22, 29 at 2PM Passport to Travel Film Series Beneath the Jungle. . . and Beyond: Mesoamerica Speaker: Dale Johnson Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 2:30 & 7:30 PM Tickets: $7.50 Student/Senior: $6.50 ORDER BY PHONE: Arts Department Citrus Fine and Performing (626) 963-9411 Set in a decadent Berlin night club in the 1920s, Cabaret focuses a metaphorically distorted lens on how the history being made at the time by the rising Nazi powers affected an American writer infatuated with a nightclub performer named Sally Bowles. Within the cabaret, life is beautiful; outside, the world is rushing toward the cataclysmic events of World War II. When it was first produced in 1967, Cabaret broke from virtually every musical theatre convention and it remains a master work today. Performed by Citrus Music Theatre Workshop students, musical numbers include It Couldn't Please Me More, Willkommen, Cabaret, Don't Tell Mama, Tomorrow Belongs To Me, and Two Ladies. PLEASE NOTE: “Cabaret” deals with adult themes, sexuality, and violence. Viewer discretion advised. A Golden Gloves boxer – a Phi Beta Kappa scholar – a successful songwriter – a member of the Highwaymen – and an accomplished actor – Kristofferson is a Golden Globe and three-time Grammy® Award-winner. His songs Me and Bobby McGee, Help Me Make It Through the Night, Sunday Morning Coming Down, and For the Good Times, all chart-topping hits, helped redefine country songwriting. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and a recent winner of the Johnny Cash Visionary Award. After more than 30 years of writing and performing music, his current focus is on solo performance. In his words: “There’s an honesty in the sparseness... being alone is freer somehow. It’s like being an old blues guy, just completely stripped away.” His songs explore themes of love, gratitude, aging, war, and his ever-present theme of freedom. www.kriskristofferson.com Speaker: Tom Sterling Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 2:30 & 7:30 PM Tickets: $7.50 Student/Senior: $6.50 AT OUR NEW WEB SITE: www.haughpac.com With musical director Joey Singer Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 2PM Tickets, Section 1: $50 Student/Senior: $48 Tickets, Section 2: $45 Student/Senior: $43 Since her sold-out appearance at HPAC nearly five years ago, Debbie Reynolds has been THE most requested artist to bring back for a repeat visit. A terrific group outing, suitable for the entire family!” – Variety There is no question that the Neville Brothers are the first family of music in New Orleans, the United States, and possibly the world. Individually, their recording history spans over 40 years. As a group, the Neville Brothers have been together and recording since 1978. Their music defies classification: bayou funk, rhythm and blues, bebop, soul are inadequate labels for their unique, neverduplicated sound. Each of the four brothers has discovered his own musical identity; as a family, these “blood brothers” have created some of the funkiest sounds the world has ever heard, combining half a century of New Orleans music into one family unit.
