I am thrilled to welcome you to this year’s
Jefferson Park Arts & Music Festival.
As the President of the Jefferson Park
Chamber, it is my pleasure to welcome
residents and visitors to Jeff Fest 2013
Arts & Music Festival.
I am honored to host this event with
Alderman John Arena in partnership
with the Chicago Park District and the
Jefferson Memorial Park Advisory Council. What’s so special about this festival
is that it brings together our community.
For those of you joining us for the first
time -- welcome, we’re glad you’re here.
We’ve created an event that offers great
music, delicious food, art you can interact with on-site, in addition to having
a grassy, green lawn to hang out and
enjoy the day.
Jeff Fest, as it is known in these parts, is enjoying its second year on the beautiful grounds
of Jefferson Memorial Park. It could not happen without the hard work of our partners:
the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce,
Chicago Park District, and Jefferson Memorial
Park Advisory Council. I want to offer a special
thanks to the park supervisor and staff that
make Jefferson Memorial Park a great community resource throughout the year.

From our Glunz Main Music stage to the Republic Bank Acoustic stage
and all in between, you are in for a weekend full of experiences that will
ignite your senses. Our lineup will have all ages dancing and singing
along.
I hope you brought your appetite! The food options and craft brews are
eclectic and will tempt every taste bud. Don’t miss the 25-foot community art project for kids of all ages and join in and create the largest
drum circle Jeff Park has ever seen.

Chicago’s Jeff Fest Arts & Music Festival Creates Three Fun-Filled Days for Fest-Goers July 26-28
Jeff Fest Arts & Music Festival features something for
everyone from dancers to musicians, actors and artists,
and a hands-on community paint project. The three-day
festival kicks off Friday, July 26 through Sunday, July
28, 2013. Located on the grounds of Jefferson Memorial Park on Chicago’s Northwest side, Jeff Fest Arts
& Music Festival has become one of Chicago’s most
highly anticipated neighborhood music festivals of the
summer.
“We’re so excited to present a festival here in Jefferson
Park where you can see new things, hear great music,
taste great food and experience it all in the park with
family and friends,” said Laura Hahn, Jefferson Park
Chamber of Commerce President and Chair of the
festival. “Jeff Fest Arts & Music Festival is meant for
the whole community to enjoy. Thanks to our sponsors,
the three days are filled with so much to do. We really
encourage everyone to bring a lawn chair, or a blanket,
stay for a while, and have a great time.”
Beyond the Main Music Stage sponsored by Glunz, are
the Republic Bank Acoustic stage, a Drum Circle area,
and a Kid’s Zone in the park that will feature pop-up
theatre performances, dancers, drum circles, and more.

Art in the Park
• Kids get to grab a paintbrush and join in on the community mural led by Artorium. The finished masterpiece will be 5 feet tall by 25 feet wide.
• Chicago Children’s Museum will host a hands-on art
project for children of all ages. • Watch as Stefan Niedorezo, master sculptor, offers
hands-on ‘Art in the Making’ for fest-goers to experience.
• Come and see the juried photography show presented by the Chicago Creative Coalition (C3) entitled C3
PhotoArt Fest.

Activities & Performances
• Boom. Rat-a-tat. Boom. Rat-a-tat goes the beat from
the John Yost’s Rhythm Revolution drum circle. Join
in and be a part of the music and help create Jefferson
Park’s largest drum circle.
• The Revelettes will perform their Go-Go style dancing
while the Hokule’a Polynesian Dancers will get fest-goers swaying to island music.
• Look for performers from the Fringe Festival.
• The Kid’s Zone features bounce houses, Bag games,
mini-golf and lively pop-up performances and theatre
games from the Filament Theatre Ensemble and Youth
Company Chicago.
Shopping & Dining
• The Urban Folk Circuit, Chicago’s only year-round
traveling craft market, in addition to local artisan
vendors and community groups, offers hip, creative
handcrafted wares to purchase and enjoy.
• Food tents will be hosted by area landmarks Gale
Street Inn and Hops & Barley’s. Rolling in especially for
the festival are Food Trucks: Get Curried Away, Toasty
Cheese, and Chubby Wieners.
• Craft beers feature a wide variety of choices from the
festival’s beer sponsor, Glunz, including: Berghoff, 5
Rabbit 5 Lizard, Great Lakes Brewing Co., Founders
IPA, Stiegel Grapefruit and Pabst Blue Ribbon.
• Jefferson Park Farmer’s Market will be available on
Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• Jeff Fest 2013 T-shirts will be available to purchase at
the Information booth.
The Festival is presented by 45th Ward Alderman Arena, Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Jefferson Park Advisory Council and the
Chicago Park District along with media partner 93.1
WXRT Chicago.
Jefferson Memorial Park is located at 4822 N. Long
Avenue, just west of Milwaukee Avenue. Fest-goers
are encouraged to take public transportation, as the
Jefferson Park Metra and CTA Blue Line are just a block
from the festival grounds. Plenty of bike racks also will
be available. Free parking will be marked and available
in area parking lots.
Road closures: Both Long and Linder Avenues will be
blocked off between Higgins and Lawrence Avenue for
the three-day festival.
Admission: Jeff Fest Arts & Music Festival fee for
admission is $7 per person, or $5 before 5 o’clock. Children ages 12 and under are Free. Coolers and outside
liquor are not permitted. Festival hours are Friday, July
26th from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, July 27th from
Noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday, July 28th from Noon to
10 p.m. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.

Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson
Memorial Park Advisory Council.

The chamber has been serving the community for nearly
80 years, sponsoring scholarships for local children and
hosting an array of community events, including festivals,
informative seminars and networking programs that often
bring business owners and community leaders together in

Art comes al
The recently formed advisory council has had a busy first
year. The council has purchased projection equipment that
has allowed for a regular showing of film at the park and in
May sponsored a community picnic that attracted a crowd
of 1,200. Several family friendly programs have been held
at the park courtesy of the council this summer.

Chicago Tribute Hits Fest
The brass sounds of Chicago, one of the greatest rock
bands of all time, will be honored during a tribute concert
that runs from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28. The
Chicago Tribute Anthology band, or CTA for short, plays
many of Chicago’s classics, including “25 or 6 to 4,” “Beginnings,” “Colour My World,” “Just You ‘n Me” and “Saturday
in the Park.” Members are veterans of the Chicago music
scene and have performed with artists such as Ray Charles
and Stevie Wonder.
Poochamungas will hit the main stage at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Leader John Joyce at the age of 30 started taking guitar
lessons, and 10 years later he began writing songs. According to the group’s Web site, John is a parent & firefighter,
which give him a unique view of the world that is reflected
in some of his songs. He has one CD & another on its way.
Admission is $5 before 5 p.m. on Sunday, and $7 after 5
pm. Paid admission includes a free raffle ticket for a chance
to win a large screen tv or a bbq grill.
Milwaukee & Higgins - 1900
The Northwest Chicago Historical
Society will conduct 1 hour historic
walking tours of Jeff Park at 1 & 3 pm
on Saturday. Sign up at Info Booth.
Poochamungas will perform at 12:30 pm on Sunday. Don’t miss the fun!
