God Made Teachers
God understood our thirst for knowledge,
and our need to be led by someone wiser;
He needed a heart of compassion,
of encouragement, and patience;
Someone who would accept the challenge
regardless of the opposition;
Someone who could see potential and
believe in the best in others . . . So, He
made Teachers. ---Author Unknown

Welcome to SWSL!
Cupcakes & Countries
Residents at SWSL enjoyed making a variety of cupcakes as part of the
ElderFit Activity Program. Each cupcake was topped with flags of
different countries. Everyone had fun guessing which country belonged
to which flag. The most fun part, however, was sampling each flavor!

Good Luck Jill S, Jill V.,
Laurie, and Miranda!
God’s Seed of
Greatness
SWSL residents participated
in some indoor gardening. In
a couple months we will be
able to enjoy fresh basil,
cilantro, and dill. Yum!
Arts & Crafts
This summer residents brought a
little of the beach to SWSL. We
had the pleasure of arranging and
painting seashells on wooden
crosses. Everyone’s art projects
turned out beautiful!

Cheep Cheep & Chirp Chirp
Recently SWSL became a duck sanctuary. Staff Maria Young and Jill Signorelli, along with her daughter Blaire,
rescued two struggling baby ducks from the Southwind pond. After a little TLC the baby ducks, named “Cheep Cheep”
and “Chirp Chirp” were healthy enough for the residents to play with.
Jute Basket Making
Residents practiced their skill of basket
making as part of the ElderFit Activity
Program. They were painted a variety of
colors and then carefully woven with beads.
