"I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to
all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak
what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are
coming. He will glorify me." - John 16:12-14a

PARISH NEWS
Confirmed in the Spirit
Sincere congratulations and prayerful best wishes to Ivet
Orsini, Genavieve Maloney and David Weiss who,
along with others from throughout the Diocese of
Scranton, completed their initiation into the Catholic
Church by receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation from
Bishop Joseph Bambera. May they continue to follow the
Holy Spirit as they strive to be strong and faithful
Christians and witnesses of Jesus Christ in the world.
Pentecost
“Today’s [Feast of Pentecost] is a great prayer which the
Church, in union with Jesus, raises up to the Father,
asking him to renew the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
May each of us, and every group and movement, in the
harmony of the Church, cry out to the Father and implore
this gift. Today too, as at her origins, the Church, in union
with Mary, cries out: ‘Veni, Sancte Spiritus! Come Holy
Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them
the fire of your love!’ Amen.”

With gratitude for your Weekly Sacrifice!!!
We are grateful to all those who financially
sacrifice every week to support our parish
and its ministries! We are especially grateful
to those who faithfully use their weekly parish
contribution envelopes!
Late or Non-Delivery of Offertory Envelopes
The late or non-delivery in recent months of the
Cathedral parishioners offertory envelopes is a result of
the recent USPS national reorganization. Our envelope
company, The Cathedral Corporation, is working
diligently with the USPS to rectify this matter. The
envelopes are mailed from our envelope company four
weeks in advance and yet there are still delays in
delivery. We apologize for this inconvenience and we ask
your patience as the USPS and Cathedral Corporation
work to try to ensure prompt delivery of our offertory
envelopes. If anyone has not received their envelopes for
the months of May and June, please call the parish office.
Catholic Communications Campaign
Thank you for your generosity of $1,335.46 to last week’s
collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign.
Because of your support, millions of faithful will have the
opportunity to deepen their faith through various
Catholic media resources, in particular, through Catholic
Television, The Catholic Light, and the Diocesan Website.

Cathedral Cemetery Adds New Mausoleum
The beautiful Cathedral Cemetery of the
Diocese of Scranton will begin construction
on a new Mausoleum this spring to offer
additional space for those who wish to be
entombed in an above-ground setting. The new building of
granite, marble and brick construction will provide a final
resting place in pleasant landscaped surroundings easily
accessible to family and friends.
This latest Mausoleum is the fifth to be constructed at
Cathedral Cemetery which also includes a nearby Chapel.
Mausoleum crypt costs are comparable or less than traditional burials. Options may be available to exchange an existing plot for a crypt. Individuals of all faiths are welcome
to be interred at Diocesan cemeteries.
One of life’s most difficult decisions should be made in
advance – before the time of need – while the families are
able to discuss options together. The Mausoleum at Cathedral Cemetery may provide an appropriate, attractive and
affordable memorial for your family.
Crypts, burial plots and cremation niches may also be
available at Diocesan cemeteries and parish cemeteries
throughout the Diocese. For more information on Diocesan
and Parish cemeteries, please call the Diocesan Cemeteries
Office at 570-347-9251, or visit the diocesan website at
www.DioceseofScranton.org.
