“ ON FIRE TO INSPIRE”
YOU!!
Differentiate and Demonstrate Diverse Genres of Art
Goal:
Chapters will be stimulated to broaden their interest
in the area of arts and letters through education of
the Arts.
Objective:
To promote cultural, artistic, positive images of African
American contributions within the communities
through Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Literature, Fine
Arts and Liberal Arts.
Task:
To define, demonstrate and model strategies to
galvanize your Arts and Letters programs.
Definition:
Arts and Letters is a traditional term for the fine
arts and literature considered together. Art is
also known as an act of an original creation by
manipulating a medium of public objects or
events. It is not a precise category and could
include any loosely defined cross section of fine
arts, performing arts and literature. The
category defined as arts and letters may also
include...
African American Literature
Fine Arts
Performing Arts
Visual Arts
Liberal Arts
Demonstrate
Literature (African American) - Etymologically
(Spoken or sung text), fiction or nonfiction, poetry,

Modeling Strategies:
All of the arts strategies will be modeled
through the Arts and Letters "stop light
culminating task" in order to galvanize all
genres of arts and letters.
In the chapter, the committee chairs should
meet to discuss what they would like for
the chapter to undertake for the upcoming
year. During the meeting they should select
two or three areas of art that they will
focus on for the sorority year.
The chairs should then meet with the chapter
president to discuss their plans for the chapter;
and the president's vision, so that they will have
an approved plan to present to the chapter.
The chairs ought to have some flexibility in their
calendar to allow for national arts and letters
initiatives that may be recommended at any
time, with the expectation of the chapter to
participate in the cause.
The chapter president and the Arts and Letters
chairs should always be mindful of the national
arts and letters initiatives during their planning.
