A committee, lead by the editors of Inside Lacrosse and comprised of the nation’s most knowledgeable figures in high school lacrosse, selected the top 44 senior boys and top 44 senior girls. Coaches, athletic directors and fans can nominate players to be considered for the team on the event website. THE TEAMS The All-Americans were assigned to teams from North and South regions of the United States. A geographic line was established to allow a fair assignment of known lacrosse powerhouse schools. THE 20-TEAM UNDERCLASS ELITE TOURNAMENT The Under Armour Underclass part of the event is a pool play tournament that features boys and girls Elite teams from Baltimore, Long Island, Midwest, New England, New Jersey, South, Philadelphia, Upstate New York,Washington, DC and West. The games will be played over the three-day All-America weekend at Towson University. Tryouts for these teams were held in their respective markets during May or June. In all, nearly 3,500 kids tried out for the Under Armour Underclassmen teams. Each tryout was attended by an average of 60 college coaches from some of the top programs in the nation. THE UNCOMMITTED GAMES The Uncommitted Games. are part of the event for the second time. Each year there are very talented players who are on the cusp of making their respective underclass team, but are not selected. Aside from the 24 players chosen for each regional team, five uncommitted (to college) players will be invited to compete and showcase themselves this weekend. A total of 50 players in each of the graduating classes - 2015, 2016, 2017 - for both boys and girls will play head-to-head games on Saturday. Players were selected by the regional evaluators and coaches. Only players who participated in the regional tryouts were eligible for the uncommitteed teams. THE JUNIOR COLEGE GAMES In a continuing effort to make showcase the nation’s top lacrosse players at every level during event weekend, the Junior College (JUCO) Stars Showcase joins the lineup of the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic. Tryouts were held in three seperate regions (North, Metro, South). The tryouts were open to all male players who have just graduated, are currently enrolled or entering a two-year Junior College. Three teams will compete at the JUCO Stars Showcase this weekend. Each team will play two games on the evening of July 11th. College coaches will flock to the event. THREE DAYS OF LACROSSE EXCITEMENT This year’s public activities will start on Friday with the kick off of the Underclass tournament at Towson University. A complete game schedule is included later in this publication. Action will continue on Saturday with additional Underclass games, the uncommitted games, as well as the featured senior All-America games, held at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University. One admission ticket will get you access to both senior games. Play for the Underclass tournament will conclude on Sunday with the end of pool play as well as the championship games. 3 WELCOME FANS Dear Families, Friends, and Fans, W elcome to the ninth annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic. This weekend, the eyes of the lacrosse world are focused on Towson University as the most elite high school lacrosse players in the country demonstrate their skills in front of the game’s top collegiate coaches, passionate fans, and fellow elite players. We are excited to host players from all corners of the United States and congratulate them for their tremendous achievement of earning the sport’s biggest honor…being named an Under Armour All-American. The Under Armour All-America label is one that will stick with a player throughout their playing career. It also represents years of dedication, sacrifice and the support of an entire network of family, friends, coaches, and teammates. Inside Lacrosse was instrumental in the selection of the senior All-America teams through a committee made up of the nation’s most knowledgeable figures in high school lacrosse. They picked the brains of college and high school coaches from across the country to find the best of the best. The ultimate litmus test of an Under Armour All-American is how a player performs at the collegiate level. A total of 48 former Under Armour All-Americans were named to their respective college’s all-conference first teams at the conclusion of 2014 college lacrosse season. University of Maryland’s Taylor Cummings (2012) and Lyle (2011) and Miles (2010) Thompson from Albany walked away with the prestigious Tewaaraton Award. The Underclass tournament affiliated with this event has evolved into lacrosse’s most prestigious showcase tournament. In both Long Island and Baltimore, for example, more than 125 college coaches attended the boys tryouts. Overall more than 3,000 student-athletes registered for the opportunity to earn a spot on their respective regional team….an all-time event record. We are delighted to expand the event with the creation of our Junior College games. In addition to the 24 players selected for each regional underclass team, five uncommitted players from each boys and girls region in the graduating classes of 2015, 2016 and 2017 were invited to compete in one game at the event. For the second year in a row, the uncommitted games promise to be a huge draw for college coaches. A big thank you goes to the people behind the scenes such as Bill Murphy and his staff at Towson University. Their tireless work during a holiday weekend plays a huge role in this event’s exponential growth and success. Thank you for being a part of this exciting and important event. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and top female college lacrosse players in the United States. This year marks the first time the Tewaaraton Award has been given to two recipients in the same year. A Tewaaraton Award finalist for the second consecutive year, Albany attackman Lyle Thompson led the nation with 77 assists and 128 points. The junior from Onondaga Nation, New York, surpassed Steve Marohl’s 22-year single-season Division I points record (114, 1992) and matched Marohl’s single-season assists mark (77, 1992). He quarterbacked Albany’s topranked offense to the NCAA quarterfinals, becoming the only Division I player ever to record two 100-point seasons (113, 2013). Lyle joined brother Miles as the first brother duo to be named Tewaaraton finalists in the same year. Lyle Thompson ‘11 All-America Game Part of perhaps the most prolific attack combination in NCAA history, Miles Thompson ranked first in the nation in goals with 82. The first team USILA All-America honoree recorded four or more points in 17 of 18 games this season as Albany advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. His 82 goals matched Yale’s Jon Reese (1990) for the all-time single-season record, and his 293 career points rank tenth all-time. Lyle Thompson played in the Under Armour All-America Game in 2011 and won six faceoffs while posting three shots. Myles Thompson made his appearence as an Under Armour All-American in 2010 and had a hat trick. Miles Thompson ‘10 All-America Game Two-way midfielder Taylor Cummings led Maryland with 63 goals, 128 draw controls, 37 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers and ranked second on the Terps’ fourth-ranked offense with 24 assists and 87 points. The sophomore from Ellicott City, Maryland, and U.S. Women’s National Team member earned her second Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America first team and first team All-ACC honors. She was named to the ACC All-Tournament Team as Maryland captured its sixth consecutive conference title, and was selected NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player as the Terps captured their 12th national title with a 15-12 victory over Syracuse. Cummings is also the first women’s sophomore to win the Tewaaraton Award. At the 2012 Under Armour All-American Game, she earned MVP honors and is co-holder of event record for most points in a game with 8 (5 goals, 3 assists).
