I want to invite you to not alone be part of but to shape our programme throughout this year. This season we have great work on our stage, in our gallery and in our studios and I am especially delighted that our new production in 2016 is a very special family show about Ireland’s Pirate queen, Granuaile, a beautiful piece of interactive storytelling. We also have many more highlights for you throughout the next few pages. In late 2016 our gallery will host ‘The Mun’ a major group photographic exhibition celebrating Ballymun past and present. (see page 24) This is our campaign in this special year. A campaign to highlight and celebrate the importance of creativity, culture and the arts to us all, in our homes, communities, towns and cities. Let’s not take our creativity for granted. We want you to get involved in and say 'yes' to your creativity, and show and tell us how important creativity is to you. No matter who you are or where you are from, young or old, in Ballymun and all across this wonderful city we want you to come out as creative, to come out and play, to make, visit and watch. We are inviting you in 2016 to Dream out Loud and say #yescreativity. We will be running this campaign throughout the year so look out for ways of getting involved. New Rising New Work, a week in the summer which will be an opportunity for the public, artists /theatre makers to apply for space to develop and show work. A special Borradh Buan. In 2016 we want to celebrate culture, creativity and the arts, so I am asking you to get in touch with any ideas you might have. Ireland's leading actors abandon a matinee of 'Cathleen Ni Houlihan'. Stepping out of their costumes and taking their revolvers from beneath the Abbey stage, they march to Dublin Castle. Firing the first shots of the insurrection they destroyed the status quo and changed forever the course of Irish history. Helena Molony and Sean Connolly rehearsed for rebellion, carried out rebellion and suffered the fatal and living conquesences of their participation. Derived from real-life testimonies, 'Rebel Rebel' chronicles the finite moments when the play (which more than any other symbolised the link between the cultural revival and the Irish revolution) spilled revolution from the stage onto the streets, leading to Sean's fatal shooting and dying in her arms on the roof of City Hall.
