A lot of TLC was needed to make me look like new. My new owner had me painted a beautiful color called “Indian Turquoise”. He put in new black seats and carpets. I looked stunning. The heads turned as I rode down the street with the top down and the wind blowing thru his hair. I made the trip to Reno several times for Hot August Nights. Going down Virginia Ave. in the parade was one of my favorites. One evening when we were stopped at a light a couple of young guys looked over and asked if we wanted to race. My owners looked at each other and laughed. Then one day a different car appeared and I was moved to a spot in the barn so it wasn’t that easy to take me out for a drive. I sat there for a long time until one day last year my owners were talking about giving me to someone. It seems that the daughter was turning 50 and she always liked me. She had said many times that I should stay in the family. So one day in the fall they came over to try to get me out of the barn. It was a game of musical cars. Move two to get one out. What made it harder was I had several flat tires. After struggling for about an hour I finally saw daylight again. However my engine wouldn’t turn over no matter what they did. So back into the barn I went. A few weeks later they came back with the necessary parts. There were about 10 people watching as the son worked on me for several hours. Finally I was running again. After a test drive up the road it was time for me to go to my new home. So with a tear in his eye and a lump in his throat Dad turned the keys over to his Daughter and off we went. My new family also has a son and a daughter who love to go for a ride. I have taken them to dinner and to ball games. I’m having fun again. I have disc brakes now so I am safer to drive. So if you see a 1965 Turquoise Mustang Convertible going down the road give it a wave and maybe my riders will wave back. “Save the Wave” Toni June 25 - 27 July 10-12 More information www.sovette.com Entered a car show in Willits last Sunday with Gail’s 57 Bel-Air and the 62 Corvette.
