Construction Connection for May 6, 2016

Dear West Muskingum Community:
The Construction Connection is to inform the community on the progress of the construction of the new West
Muskingum Elementary. Construction continues to be on schedule. Teachers will be able to occupy the school
the week of August 22. School will be ready for occupation by elementary school students on Tuesday, September
6. Roadways, the main parking lot and playground will be completed by the end of October 2016.
The school is divided into four construction zones (See Floor Plan Below):
 AREA A - Includes the main office, kitchen, common area, music and art rooms, gym, public restrooms, snack
shack, and storage areas on the main floor.
 AREA B - Includes the preschool and kindergarten learning communities.
 AREA C – The area is divided into upper level Area C and lower level Area C. Upper Area C is the second
grade learning community on the north side of the school and lower Area C is the fourth grade learning
community on the north side of the school.
 AREA D - The area is divided into upper level Area D and lower level Area D. Upper Area D is the first grade
learning community on the south side of the school and lower Area D is the third grade learning community
on the south side of the school.
The bi-weekly construction meeting was held on Thursday, May 5. The five learning communities are in different
stages of construction. Lower Level D (Third Grade Learning Community) is the most advanced in construction. All
areas are progressing well.
COMPLETED:
 Lower level sidewalk – west side of the school – Kimes Road
 Gym ceiling and walls have been painted
 Ceiling grid lighting in Lower Levels C and D
 Light base completed for circle drive on Kimes Road side of school completed
 Mechanical courtyard the chiller and ice tank connections are completed
 Area A dry wall 100% hung
 Gas line 100% tied into the school
 Permeant electric installed to the school
ONGOING:
 Lower level – west side – Kimes Roadside of the school – lower concrete drive
 Drywall finishing in Area A
 Area A painting ongoing
 Ceiling grid installation for stairwells connecting lower and upper Areas C and D
 Installation of casework in lower levels C and D
 HVC work in Area A
COMPLETED IN TWO WEEKS:
 Water main tie in
 Area B ceiling grid
 Electrical work and piping in Area A
 Setting plumbing fixtures in Lower Level C and D
 Installation of registers and diffusers and in Lower Level C and D
 Installation of gym equipment
