Romantic
Your wedding
Many couples are married in church and come to the Morritt for their reception.
And we have records of generations of brides and grooms doing just that.
But if you want a civil ceremony, we have some of the
most beautiful settings imaginable. And being the first
location in County Durham to offer civil ceremonies,
we have huge experience in combining ceremony
with celebration.
• The bijou Blue Room is ideal for an intimate
and cosy ceremony for up to 16.
Whatever the size of your party, you’re likely to find a
place to fit, whether it’s for a civil ceremony and
reception, or just for your celebration.
There are three bars, comfortable relaxing
lounges and gorgeous landscaped gardens,
offering a picturesque setting and excellent
photograph opportunities.
All of them can be set up to your taste and
personalised as you wish.
• We have the romantic Garden Room, which can
seat up to 100 for a civil ceremony or 60 for a
wedding breakfast.
• The stunningly impressive Ballroom can seat up to
200, and can accommodate 300 for dancing and
buffet.
• The elegant oak-lined Gilroy dining room seats up
to 60 and has an adjoining bar.
• The charming Rokeby Suite can seat up to 30 and
can be used as an extension to the Garden Room
or Ballroom.

It’s all up to you. We have a wealth of experience in making wedding fantasies a reality
and we can help with any query you may have.
If you haven’t got your own suppliers, we have
excellent contacts who can provide everything from
flowers to cars.
We can help arrange musical entertainment we’ve booked everything from ceilidhs to brass bands,
discos to gospel choirs.
Children’s entertainment?
How about a magician or Punch and Judy?
It really is all up to you. And we can make it
happen.

With somewhere as tastefully historic as the Morritt you can expect great accommodation.
The Morritt has 27 individually furnished en-suite
bedrooms, plus a separate cottage just a few steps
away which sleeps up to 18 people - complete with
swimming pool, sauna and games room. Great for
family gatherings.
