sunshades, grilles, building facades, handrail infill, fencing and louvers.
In order to focus more attention on
this market, OGi Architectural Metal
Solutions was created.
Custom fabrication and special finishes for
these product types and operations are
handled separately from our normal
production for quality control purposes.
Typical finishes include powder coating, anodizing and
Kynar painting.
OGi’s headquarters in Canton, Ohio has a manufacturing facility of over 312,000
sq. ft. Our facilities also provide services from turn-key systems to the most complex
fabricating requests. We operate in accordance to ANSI (American National Standards
Institute) and NAAMM (National Association of Architectural Metal Manufacturers)
standards.
In 2007 a joint venture was
formed with American Metal
Architectural Systems in
Longwood, Florida to take
advantage of the tremendous growth
potential of these products in the
southeastern U.S. They offer design,
engineering, fabrication and
installation from their 30,000 sq. ft.
facility. OGi supports their
operation by handling the majority
of their manufacturing
requirements.
OGi sunshade systems offer a

In conjunction with Red Vector, OGi has developed
an online web-based program for architects and
engineers. This FREE (when accessed from the
OGI website) program offers the same content and
learning units (1 hr.) as the conventional program,
but with the added convenience of completing the
program within your own time schedule.
Description: This program reviews the history,
nomenclature and governing standards of metal bar
grating. It also reviews the types of materials and
different manufacturing processes available. A
weight comparison is used to identify what type of
grating best suits the user.

provide a full package system. OGi manufactures and fabricates sunshades
with airfoil blades, screen or perforated metal infill options. All systems can
come with outrigger supports, fascia trim and mounting brackets and hardware.
OGi BarScreen sunshade systems can offer 100% solar block up to a 72°
sun angle above horizon. (see diagram 9.1). Our BarScreen products are
light weight and have a wide variety of bar spacing and depth options.
BarScreen is available in aluminum
and light gauge steel. Aluminum bars
are also available in select styles with a
LiteBar option to further reduce the
weight of your sunshade.
OGi VisiScreen, an extruded fixed
aluminum louver, is an excellent
product for sunshade applications.
The extruded fin at a 45° angle helps to
block more solar heat gain with less
weight. VisiScreen also offers a look
somewhere between BarScreen and
airfoils typically seen in sunshade
applications. Like BarScreen, VisiScreen has a great deal of flexibility in
bar spacing and easily integrates into all OGi sunshade parts. Because of the
blade design, it is capable of spans up to 12’. Consult your manufacturer’s
representative for more detailed information.
OGi also offers a full line of perforated metal & extruded aluminum blades
specifically designed for sunshade applications. Perforated aluminum is an
affordable and lightweight design option for sunshade infill and can be rolled
to create a unique design feature. With some creativity, a design can easily be
custom made for your application without drastically increasing the cost. OGi
extruded aluminum airfoils and other profiles are available in a variety of sizes
and are designed to integrate into the OGi sunshade assemblies (see details on
right). Airfoils, in addition to being durable, offer a contemporary appearance.
All sunshades systems are available in a variety of finishes that can meet the
most stringent environmental conditions. Kynar, polyester powder and
anodized finishes all meet and exceed AAMA 2605 specifications and are
readily available to complete your sunshade application.

19SG4 - 2” x 3/16” Anodized Black Aluminum
This project featured 1,900 square feet of the
OGi swaged aluminum bar grating (19SG4).
The determination to use this product was made
by the architect to create contrast between the
existing brick and heavy timber construction with
a contemporary and clean looking metal product.
The architect selected a standard stock style of
grating to keep the material cost effective as well
as providing sufficient visual and security
blockage from the street level.
The primary application is a decorative grille
along the main façade of the residence. This grille
frames a horizontal run of windows and creates a
focal point for the composition of the structure.
The grille material extends to a series of handrail
pieces at the roof terrace levels to meet the
building code where the existing parapet wall was
not high enough.
The OGi material was also used for a fence and
gate at the main entrance off the street level.
OGi designed and fabricated this system to
accommodate a call box and magnetic
strike for additional security.
The flexibility, strength and
durability of the material
allowed it to be modified
and fabricated into a
variety of installations to
create a cohesive aesthetic.
The 19SG4 was installed
using a variety of fabricated
aluminum angles and galvanized
unistruts. The product was

anodized finish to contract
the natural look of the brick and wood of the
existing structure as well as to increase its long
term “weatherability” of the aluminum product.
