JCC HIGH HOLIDAYS SCAVENGER HUNT Everybody loves scavenger hunts! They are a great bonding experience to do with friends, family, and community. In this hunt you will explore, learn, be creative, do good deeds, and much more, so we can all embody the essence of the High Holidays season. Engage your mind, body and neshama (soul) in these fun, heart-‐warming, and creative challenges! Submit evidence of completion in the form of photos and videos to [email protected]. Submissions are due September 20, at midnight. CHALLENGES High Holidays Edible Art! Get your creative juices going and make an apple and honey edible sculpture! PROVE IT! Don’t eat it before you take a picture! Shofar Hero! Be a rock star and blow your best tekiah! Take a 10 second video 3. Mitzvah Time! Rosh Hashanah Upcycled Use pieces from your blue/recycling bin to create a High Holidays sculpture. Take a photo. The artist must be in the shot! Get Personal! Write a kvitelach, a wish for the New Year, and post it in the HaKotel HaMa'aravi, the Western Wall replica at the JCC. Take a photo while you push the note in the crevices. The JCC will ship all notes to the actual Kotel in Jerusalem. 11. Pomegranate Ready! It is a custom to have this fruit on the Rosh Hashanah table. Jewish wisdom teaches it has 613 seeds. How many does yours have? 12. Kitchen Time! Cook/make a different Jewish tradition dish than yours, as part of your High Holiday celebration. 13. 14. 15. 16. If you didn’t go crazy counting, take a photo of your pomegranate and recite this beautiful blessing: “May it be Your will, our God that our merits increase like the seeds of a pomegranate”. Take a photo of your yummy dish! Hachnasat Orchim! Invite somebody new to your home; show your hospitality as part of the Rosh Hashanah traditions. Take a photo of your guest and share that yummy dish you made in the previous challenge! Stained Glass Sparkles! Where is this artwork located? What does the Hebrew mean? Find out who donated this work of art and take a photo of yourself in front of your favorite Jewish holiday. Your IDF Connection! Send a Rosh Hashanah card to an Israeli soldier, as they will spend their High Holidays in uniform, on base, standing guard and protecting Israel from any threats. No need to prove anything!
