She began her career at the theatre as an actress. She most recently appeared as Cassandra in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. She has also appeared on the Hippodrome stage in such productions as Other Desert Cities, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Steel Magnolias, Sugar Bean Sisters, Marvin’s Room, Always Patsy Cline, Absent Friends and eight years in A Tuna Christmas. She was the first woman in the country to be granted permission to appear in a professional production of A Tuna Christmas. Lauren’s mainstage directing credits (too numerous to list in their entirety) include All Girl Frankenstein, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Master Class, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Glass Menagerie, Alice in Wonderland, Eurydice, and Good People. In 2004, she adapted and directed the world premiere of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds on the Hippodrome Mainstage. Lauren has studied extensively with world-renowned director Anne Bogart, completing Viewpoints training, composition and also a six-week observership at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Before her position as Artistic Director, Lauren was Director of Education at the Hippodrome. During her tenure in this position, she worked with the HITT program, the Summer Spectacular program, and wrote and directed four original plays for the Theatre for Young Audiences program. These plays toured Alachua County as well as the State of Florida, serving thousands of public school students. Prior to her arrival in Gainesville, Lauren traveled extensively for Success Motivation Institute (an international communications company), lived a season in Graz, Austria with the American Institute of Musical Studies, and toured with Liza Minnelli. At the University of Florida’s School of Theatre and Dance, she has taught adjunct, conducted master classes and served as adjudicator for the school’s mainstage plays. Lauren is the founder and owner of Legal Acts, a company that provides training for courtroom attorneys. She has been affiliated with the University of Florida College of Law for over twenty years. Lauren has been recognized as Artist of the Year in The Gainesville Sun and was a keynote speaker for the Florida Humanities Council. Lauren was nominated for a Spirit of Gainesville Award by Gainesville Magazine and named one of Gainesville’s Twenty Most Interesting People by INsite Magazine. She is a native Texan. Lauren holds a BFA in directing from Baylor University and an MFA in Acting from the University of Florida. Jessica hUrov (Managing Director) Jessica began at the Hippodrome as the Director of Marketing in 2005, during which time she oversaw marketing, public relations, advertising, graphic design, video and social media efforts for all divisions of the institution. Subsequently, Jessica became the Hipp’s Director of Communications, with expanded administrative responsibilities in the areas of fundraising, subscriptions, membership, and patron relations. During her career, both in Boston and Gainesville, she has worked in market research, event planning, and theatre administration. She has worked with Gainesville’s professional arts organizations on the Gainesville Entertainment Sampler, the Chris Morris Arts Education Endowment at P.K. Yonge, the University of Florida’s P.K. Yonge Performing Arts program, and is a design partner for Dance Alive National Ballet. Prior to moving to Gainesville, Jessica was the Administrative Manager of the Tsai Performance Center in Boston and a national research director at a marketing agency. Jessica graduated with honors and has dual degrees in English and Psychology from Boston University. For more information, visit www.actorsequity.org. who’s who in a christmas carol GREGORY JONES*^ (Ebenezer Scrooge) Gregg returns to the Hipp for his eighteenth run of A Christmas Carol, this time as Ebenezer Scrooge instead of Jacob Marley, a role which he performed for 16 years opposite his fellow company member and Hippodrome staff member, Rusty Salling. Gregg is honored to attempt to even come close to what Rusty has done with the role all these many years, and is grateful for the opportunity to play this timehonored part. Mr. Jones has appeared on the Hippodrome stage since the “warehouse” days where he first appeared in They Shoot Horses Don’t They? during the 1978-79 season. Since then, he has played various roles in more than 40 shows at the theatre. These roles include Tom/Dinner With Friends, Salvador Dali/ Hysteria, Adrian/Private Eyes, Leslie, Phyllis and Tom in Sylvia, and Sid Caesar/Laughter on the 23rd Floor. Gregg also appeared in the roles of Lord Montague in Romeo & Juliet and Detective Nick Rosetti in two runs of Shear Madness. Film and television credits include Waterways, She Loves Me-She Loves Me Not, Miami Vice, and two Victor Nunez films; A Flash of Green and Coastlines. Since 2004 he has been the director of Leading Edge, a business theatre ensemble that does work with major corporate clients as part of the Executive Education Department at The University of Florida. Gregg is currently a tenured professor of Theatre at Santa Fe College, where he has been a faculty member for the past 28 years, and from where he will retire in May of 2016. He is a proud member of Actors Equity (1974) and SAG/AFTRA (1985). matthew lindsay*^ (Jacob Marley) Matthew is honored to be included in the Hipp’s company of actors. Matthew was last seen at the Hippodrome this season in Peter and the Starcatcher, The Two Musketeers, Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play, Slasher, and Clybourne Park. Previous Hippodrome roles include Sebastian in The Tempest, Stevie in Good People, A Tuna Christmas, Zombie Town: A Documentary Play and Robert in Don’t Dress for Dinner, Sheriff in Robin Hood, Mr. Morton in Carrie, Tripp Wyeth in Other Desert Cities, Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Solicitor in A Christmas Carol, Dwight in Dead Man’s Cell Phone, Fischke in Serendib, Quincey in Dracula, Chaplain White in Defiance, and Mikey in Shear Madness. He received his initial training at LACC Theatre Academy and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts at California State University, Fullerton with an emphasis in playwriting. Recently, he directed Dog Sees God at The Primitive Studio. Niall mcginty^ (Ghost 2/Solicitor/Ghost of Christmas Present) Niall is thrilled to be directing this year’s production of A Christmas Carol and to be in the Hippodrome’s Acting Company. Bryan Mercer^ (Bob Cratchit/Ghost of Christmas Future) Bryan is a native of Ocala, returns to the HIPP since playing Mrs. Bumbrake in Peter and the Starcatcher, Gibson in MR. BURNS, a post electric play. He was musical director for Honky Tonk Angels, Winter Wonderettes, Avenue Q, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Trailer Park, Trailer Park Christmas,College: The Musical, and SHOUT! He has been known to Atlanta audiences for over thirty five years as an actor, singer, director, designer, painter, and served as puppeteer, composer, musician and musical director for 15 years at the internationally acclaimed CENTER FOR PUPPETRY ARTS. Bryan has helmed over 150 musicals and just completed a production of The Color Purple using the music of Michael Jackson and has recently composed music for a new musical for the Hapsberg Slendour touring collection at the HIGH Museum of Art and The Snow Queen here at the HIPP. Sara morsey*^ (Ghost 1/Solicitor/Ghost of Christmas Past) Sara calls The Hippodrome home and has performed here for over twenty years. Her most recent Hippodrome credits are All Girl Frankenstein (Hunchback), Slasher (Frances McKinney), The Tempest (Prospera), and Good People (Margie). YOUNG PERFORMERS EMILY BLOOM (Dollie/Ingnorance) is an American actress known for her reoccurring appearances at the Hippodrome Theatre’s Summer Spec. Bloom is best known for her roles as Earthworm from James and The Giant Peach and Hillary Van Doren in Fame. She began her acting career at the age of seven. At the current age of fourteen, Bloom has been in over twenty-four different performances. The budding actress has been training in dance, stage combat, band, and drama. Alex Bonahue (Scrooge as Boy ) is delighted to return for another year of A Christmas Carol, where he has previously played the roles of Young Scrooge and Tiny Tim. He is also a veteran of Hippodrome Summer Spectacular and We the People productions, and his favorite roles have included Antipholus of Syracuse (Comedy of Errors), Old Green Grasshopper (James and the Giant Peach), and Le Chevalier (Plumes). Alex is a 7th grader at the P.K. Yonge DRS, where he is also a percussionist with the marching band. Rainey Bryson (Fan) is in the second grade and is excited to play Fan in her first production of A Christmas Carol. Her theater experience includes Hippodrome’s Summer Spectacular, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well as many school performances. She enjoys school, acting swimming, traveling, boating/fishing and spending time with her friends and family. Julia Bush (Dollie /Ingnorance) is in sixth grade. This is her first year in A Christmas Carol. She has also performed in the Hippodrome’s Summer Spectacular productions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Jungle Book, and The Hobbit. She joined the Teen Costume Collective at the Hippodrome last year. She plays flute and also enjoys art. Amelia Collins(Scrooge as Boy)is in the fourth grade at Queen of Peace Catholic Academy. This is her first role at the who’s who in a christmas carol Hippodrome, but she has been in many plays at her school, including the title roles of Peter Pan, Annie and Willy Wonka. She loves theatre, sports, and music. Charlie Delatorre (Peter) is a 7th grader at Oak Hall School where he is involved with Junior Thespians. He is thrilled to be reprising his role as Peter. Lauren Delatorre (Want / Turk kid) is an 11th grader at Oak Hall School. She is very excited to be returning for her second year in A Christmas Carol. Some of her previous roles include Martha Cratchit (A Christmas Carol), Rosalind (As You Like It), and Liz (Lockdown). Lilian Ehlers (Belle as Girl ) is a 5th grade elementary student at J.J. Finley in Gainesville, Florida. She is thrilled to be cast for the second year in a main stage production at the Hippodrome Theatre: A Christmas Carol. In addition to this role, Lillian has participated in acting and summer camp educational programs at the Hippodrome. Recently, Lillian has added voice to her repertoire to assist in her pursuit of admission to PKYonge’s Performing Arts Program in 6th grade. Elie Freeman (Martha ) Elie is a freshman at PK Yonge and this is her first year in The Christmas Carol. She has performed in Aladdin(Magic Carpet), Into The Woods(Evil Witch), and honoured critics choice at International Jr. Thespians. Elie enjoys singing and ballet. Elena Frenock (Belinda) is a fifth grader at Jordan Glen School. She is happy to be playing Belinda in her first production of A Christmas Carol. After two Hippodrome Summer Spectaculars she feels right at home. Her other theatre experiences include three years of productions at Jordan Glen. Elena is a member of the Archery Team, a Junior Girl Scout and enjoys expressing herself creatively through photography and art Bella Huigens (Belle as Girl) was last seen on stage playing Tina Denmark in Ruthless. Her favorite past productions include playing Shirley Temple in G.I. Holiday Jukebox (Gainesville Community Playhouse) and Belinda Cratchit in A Christmas Carol (The Hippodrome). Other past productions include playing (Ariel) in the Little Mermaid Jr. (Actors’ Warehouse) and a (Munchkin) in The Wizard of Oz (Gainesville Community Playhouse). Brianne Jackson (Martha) Bre is in the ninth grade at P.K. Yonge Development Research School. She has performed in the Hippodrome Summer Spectacular production of Fame as well as the production of Hamlet and Sci-Fi Smack Down at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. She is a member of the Debate Team and also enjoys singing and dancing. Zachary Kepler (Peter) is in the 9th grade in the PK Yonge Performing Arts Program. This is his second year in A Christmas Carol. He as also performed in the Hippodrome’s Summer SpectacularProductions of James and The Giant Peach and Fame. Zach has also been in A Comedy of Errors, Plumes and Macbeth with the We The People Theatre Program along with Restoring Justice as a part of the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding. Zach play soccer and sings. Jenna Lamb (Fan) is thrilled to be in A Christmas Carol with such a wonderful and inspiring cast! She loves being a performer and hopes to be in many more Hippodrome productions! Channing o’halloran (Tiny Tim) This is Channing’s second year in A Christmas Carol. She most recently performed in the Hippodrome’s Summer Spectacular production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as “Charlie” and We the People Arts Initiative Plumes as “Laura Norcross Mars”. Channing is currently working on Stranger Things for Netflix. She is in 7th grade and loves being a cheerleader for her school. Scotlyn silvey (Want 1 / Turk kid) is a freshman at PK Yonge, is making her sixth appearance in A Christmas Carol. Past roles include, Martha Cratchit, Belle as a girl and Fan. She has performed in numerous Hippodrome Summer Spectacular productions the past nine years. Madeline has enjoyed filming several festival bound projects this year and is excited to see what will come next in her adventures. Alexandru Dabija, Iulian Visa, Mihai Manutiu, and Victor Ion Frunza. In 1991 he received a scholarship to attend The London International Festival of Theatre. Since 1995 he is a member of the United Association of the Romanian Fine Artists in the scenography section. Currently he is an Associate Professor in Scene Design in the School of Theatre and Dance at the University of Florida. Resli Ward (Tiny Tim) is a 5th grader at Glen Springs Elementary School. She has previously appeared as Tiny Tim in the Hippodrome’s A Christmas Carol and in several Hippodrome Summer Spectacular productions including Charlie and the Chocolate, (Charlie Bucket). She also is a Girl Scout and is a member of the Safety Patrol at Glen Springs. Broadway: Design For Living (Roundabout Theatre) with Alan Cumming. Off-Broadway: York Theatre: Prodigal Son with Christian Borle and Kerry Butler, Roadside by the creators of The Fantastics with G.W. Bailey; The Wild Party (Manhattan Theatre Club) with Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel; String Theory (Ensemble Studio Theatre) with Cynthia Nixon. Lizzi has also worked several Off-OffBroadway shows. She has also worked at the Phillips Center, the Baughman Center, Lilith Fair, Ozz Fest & toured with Three Mo’ Tenors. Lizzi has served as an adjunct professor with the University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance. During Lizzi’s tenure at the Hippodrome she has Stage Managed 55 shows. Lizzi is also a Licensed Massage Therapist. Lizzi is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. Amber wilkerson* (Stage Manager, The Snow Queen) Amber spent two full seasons at the Hippodrome Theatre, first as Properties Intern, then as Assistant Stage Manager before moving to New York City to pursue a career in theatre. She returned to the Hipp as the Equity Stage Manager of A Christmas Carol in 2005 & 2006. She has worked professionally for The Metropolitan Opera (NYC), The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (Madison, NJ), North Shore Music Theatre (Beverly, MA), and Times Square New Year’s Eve 2006-2010 (NYC). In 2006, Amber served as Production Assistant on the Broadway musical, Grey Gardens. More recently, Amber spent five years working with Manhattan Theatre Club as a Subscriber Services Representative and two years as a House Manager at Playwrights Horizons, both in New York City. Originally from Maryland, she received a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Salisbury University in 2002. mihai ciupe (Scenic Designer, The Snow Queen) Originally from Romania, Mihai Ciupe received a double MFA degree in costume and set design from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to the United States, he was resident scenographer at The National Theatre of Cluj, Romania. During his former years, he traveled extensively in Europe in tours with the shows that he designed, getting exposure to the various schools of theatre from England, Scotland, Hungary, France and Yugoslavia. As a designer he worked with some of the greatest Romanian directors: Gabor Tompa, Carlos francisco Asse (Scenic Designer, A Christmas Carol) Carlos holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Florida, where he also did extensive work in the theatre department. Mr. Asse has designed and directed many shows at the Hippodrome and throughout the state. He has designed plays at all the Hipp’s locations since way back at the beginning. He has been the recipient of several awards for his excellence in scenic design, including three Southern Regional Emmys for the years 1998, 1999 and 2000, for his production design work in the children’s show Salsa filmed at GPTV studios in Atlanta, Georgia. This year he has been chosen among artists across Florida to receive an Individual Artist Fellowship from the State of Florida, Division of Cultural Affairs. In the past four years, Mr. Asse has written several plays. He hopes any one of them would be produced soon and then he can get to design the environments. Marilyn A. Wall (Costume Designer-in-Residence) Marilyn Wall is a co-founder of the Hippodrome, where she is Artistic Associate and Costume Designer-in-Residence. She has designed and built costumes for more than 350 professional productions for the stage and for film. Her stage designs have been seen in San Diego, Boston, Denver, Connecticut, New York, Alabama, Massachusetts, and Toronto. In the film world she has designed costumes and makeup for: A Flash of Green, with Ed Harris; Shimmer, with MaryBeth Hurt; Ruby in Paradise, with Ashley Judd; Gathering Evidence, with Angelina Jolie; Miami Hustle, with Kathy Ireland; and Ulee’s Gold, with Peter Fonda and Patricia Richardson. Ms. Wall has also served as a designer for Phil Donahue, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Todd Field, Joan Steffend, Scott Simon, and Travis Tritt, and is a two-time Emmy Award winner for her design work on Salsa, a national television children’s series. She received an Audelco Award nomination for her original costume design for Cookin’ at the Cookery and a Beverly Hills/Hollywood Theatre Award nomination for Best Costume Design. She designed puppets and costumes for the children’s television series called OrganWise Guys. Marilyn was the invited artist for HGTV White House Christmas Special 2003-2005. Marilyn was awarded a Florida Individual Artist Fellowship in 2009. Jessica nilacala Kreitzer (Costume Designer, A Christmas Carol) Originally from Santa Cruz, California, Jessica Nilacala Kreitzer received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. This is her forth season working at the Hippodrome Theatre, where she started as Costume Intern and is now Costume Designer. Other costume design credits at the Hippodrome include All Girl Frankenstein, Peter and the Starcatcher, Honky Tonk Angels, King o’ the Moon, Leveling Up, A Christmas Carol, Mr. Burns, a PostElectric Play, and the world premiere of The Two Musketeers. She freelances in makeup, hair, and costume design for theatre, dance, and film with various organizations nationally, as well as investing time in her own handcraft business, Confluence Couture. Robert P. Robins (Lighting Designer) Bob is a Lighting Designer and educator based in Gainesville Florida. Prior to 2008, Bob held the title of Lighting Designer-in-Residence/Audio Production, at the Hippodrome Theatre, a position he held for over 23 years. This season marks Bob’s 31st anniversary who’s who in design & Production who’s who in design & Production of collaboration with the Hippodrome as Lighting Designer. His work has been seen Off Broadway and regionally in the United States. He has designed lighting for over 650 theatre, dance, industrial, and special events. Regional and local credits also include Florida Repertory Theatre, Flat Rock Playhouse, Dance Alive!, Florida Audubon Society, Florida Foundation, Shands Hospital, Southern Legal Counsel, Ocala Civic Theatre, Theatre Winter Haven, and Marion Ballet Theatre. Bob also works with local artists, business owners and realtors, consulting on projects that range from lighting art installations, exterior lighting of local businesses, to working with homeowners and realtors, providing architectural lighting design and consultation. Credits also include Upland Hills School, Trinity Episcopal Church, Hippodrome Theatre, and City of Gainesville. Bob also volunteers his design and consulting services to a wide range of local schools and organizations. In his teaching career, Bob has taught at Santa Fe College, Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts, Drury University, and Eastside High School in Gainesville Fl. He has certification as a Professional Educator in the state of Florida, is an Actors’ Equity Association Stage Manager, and proudly holds a BFA in Theatre Production from the University of Florida. Last year she was a senior props artisan in Cedar City, Utah for the Utah Shakespeare Festival: Measure for Measure, Henry IV, Comedy of Errors, Sense and Sensibility, Into The Woods, Twelfth Night. Lorelei Esser (Properties Designer, A Christmas Carol) Lorelei Esser is a 3 dimensional construction artist creating beings from found objects. This medium lends itself well to the building of props. She was the Properties Designer In-Residence for the Hippodrome Theatre for 15 years and is thrilled to be invited back. Amanda yanes (Sound Designer) Amanda is thrilled to be designing her third season at the Hippodrome Theatre. Michael started working at the Hippodrome as Master Carpenter in 2000 and since January 2002 has been the Hippodrome’s Technical Director/Production Manager. He is known in the area for his fine woodworking and award-winning photography. His work can be found in galleries in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Set design credits include: Leveling Up, 2 Pianos 4 chris kozak (Assistant Director, The Snow Queen) Chris is honored to be a part of the world premiere of this play at the Hippodrome Theatre. He is a graduate of the University of Florida (BA in General Theatre) and University of Missouri-Kansas City (MFA in Production/Stage Management). He has worked professionally for the Kansas City Repertory Theatre on Winesburg, Ohio: The Musical and David Ives’ translation of A Flea in her Ear and Miss Witherspoon at the Unicorn Theatre, and is currently serving as the Assistant Production Manager at the University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance. Nichole hamilton* (Assistant Stage Manager, A Christmas Carol) Nichole has had the pleasure of stage managing Avenue Q, Venus in Fur and A Christmas Carol (2010-2013) at the Hippodrome as well as performing numerous roles onstage. She has been freelancing as an actor, director, stage manager and teacher for over fifteen years and currently resides in Atlanta GA. Nichole holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Montevallo and an MFA in Acting from the University of Florida.
